1. Beriault is a SS whose never played FS & spent his rookie season on IR. Don't see any way he legit contender for starting FS job. His best chance to make this team is a SS backup behind Roy Williams.
2. Willie Pile played better then expected for us per Parcells comments; in fact many times later in season he played FS instead of Davis--whatever the reason. But barring injury, don't see any way Pile makes the team this year. That's tough and he seems like good guy who just needs chance & time to develop but doubt Cowboys can give him that time.
3. Davis will be given every opportunity to start but exactly how does he develop his cover skills enough in the offseason to win the job? Not sure looking at films will do it; its more an instinctive/reactive position and Davis nature is to attack first. Think Parcells understands this & that's why Cowboys signed Coleman to inexpensive 1 year deal.
If Coleman shows he can get the job done, he starts & Watkins (whom Parcells called green during rookie minicamp) will have time to develop. Hopefully Watkins (whose got a chip on his shoulder cause he slide so far) works hard and learns real fast how to play FS in the NFL the way the Cowboys need. How soon Watkins can start depends on how fast he learns cause he sure has some good intangibles: height, jumping ability, desceptive speed, smarts & hard working & appears have driven personality to suceed. A few INTs in preseason games (and not too many mental mistakes which lead to big gains/TDs) could get him on the field earlier then many think but doubt he starts until much later in season. I just think he really needs to spend time in the Cowboys offseason weight conditioning program so he can bulk up and add the strength he supposedly lacking.
