Or Fletcher Cox of the 3-4 Philadelphia Eagles.

You may not like it but the reality is that Philadelphia Eagles fans are not concerned with losing Thornton.
Not expecting Cox for the amount we paid Thornton but also not expecting much either.

eagles fans actually know he's a very good player.

The only guy that I think would really help our team is Alfred Morris from the stock of 2nd wave guys we've been interested in. Everyone else is a push.

Robinson is about on par with Sterling Moore. Good depth, not someone you want starting. Chris Long would've been Nick Hayden 2.0, and we know how people feel about that.

But it's also like everyone just forgets Cedric Thornton was signed to an amazingly good deal. We went from "lol" at 1T to actually having the kind of player we need there, and for cheap. I guess some fans want us to be the Giants and spend $155M on three guys in free agency.

Did you just compare Robinson and Long to Moore and Hayden with a straight face?

Wow.

Nobody expects these guys to be world beaters but that's just silly.

Eagles fan think he is a situational run stuffer. With Fletcher Cox and Benie Logan and Vinnie Curry they saw him as a part time player. He was taken off the field in passing downs last year...we are going to be using him in a more natural position for him. But there isn't some huge outcry in philly about letting him leave. Most Eagles fans have the attitude that he was a good player who they don't blame for taking starters money.

Cedric Thronton was a guy that only hardcore Eagles fans knew anything at all about. Sort of like Hayden in Dallas.

I'd argue that the optimists are much more frequently critical of aspects of the team than the pessimists are positive about aspects of the team, but maybe that isn't fair.

That 40-40 since 2011 is actually slightly above average (14 teams ahead of us). Adjusting somewhat for our schedule during that time, it puts us first in the NFCE for that period, but is also the lowest win percentage of any of the divisions in the league by a fair margin.

If you want to try to adjust for the quality of the teams themselves, we win 66% of the game we're favored to win (13 teams are better at that than we are) and win 28.6% of the games we're favored to lose (24 teams in the league win as underdogs at a higher rate). So we typically perform at the rate we're expected to perform.

All this during a period with a strapped cap an aging roster inherited in 2010.

So, overall, not good enough, but not as bad as it's generally made out to be. We've had a franchise QB during that time, and a franchise-worst defense for some of it. We lost a season to injury last year, but then all teams suffer from injuries. We've gotten the roster younger, and the cap healthier. And, overall, we've been outperforming the league average by a thin margin while doing it. Basically: nto great, but not terrible.

Very fair assessment my friend, we are not the dumpster fire many claim, but at the same time we are not good enough to be a consistent playoff team either. Like you said, one of the main reasons we have made the playoffs just 1 time in the past 5 seasons is due to horrendous defense. Now that is where I think justified criticism of the coaches and front office is warranted, they have not fixed the defense and this is going into year 6. Maybe they need to change how they scout, the type of players they draft, they type of free agents they sign, ect..........I think Denver showed everybody that a great defense can beat a great offense every day of the week so that is what we should be focused on, fixing the defense.

I'll admit it.. I have been a tad cynical and frustrated. The Alfred Morris signing has renewed some faith. I like Thornton and will be interested in seeing how they inspire Mayowa. Add Patrick Robinson and I will be on cloud 9. Filling areas of need.. actively and intelligently. That's impressive.

Not picking on you specifically BS, but this Cowboy fandom at it's best.

Last week Jerry sucks and we are losing FA, this week he's great and we are winning FA.

The holdup: the cornerback has changed agents. Club officials began discussions with Kevin Conner but have now been told that Ron Butler represents Robinson.

"We've had a couple of visits with his new agent,'' executive vice president Stephen Jones said late Tuesday afternoon. "He lives here in Boca. We're hoping at a minimum we're going to visit this afternoon or early this evening.''

Here, based on conversations with several sources, is what has gone on behind the scenes.

The Cowboys began to negotiate with Conner before Robinson paid a visit to Valley Ranch. The parameters of a three-year deal had been agreed to in principle. That's why a source said Monday that the Cowboys were farther along in their negotiations with Robinson than running back Alfred Morris.

At some point Monday, Butler notified club officials that he now represents Robinson. That's when discussions with Butler began.
