That appears a tad hoarse in regards to McClay. As I posted on another post I get my news from the news and I am not privy to any grapevine.
People like McClay and I haven't seen any thing to say otherwise. I thought the front four last year was looking good until the injuries.
Last year we drafted for offense. This year it's defense. That seems to be the cycle the last three years.

I was talking about Stephen Jones.

I find it encouraging that they did have them obviously targeted and clearly wanted to add them to the DL rotation..

The fact is they were handpicked. It was still early enough in the process to work out multiple players and do due diligence.

They did not. They signed the pair and then moved on to the prize targets.

If neither is able to be quality pieces in a rotation, the signings should be judged appropriately.

There's a difference between finding fault and anointing someone. I don't believe I've read anyone finding any fault in Will McClay. Some just haven't seen any reason to believe he's good or bad yet.

Let's be honest. Even if the Cowboys fail to put together quality draft classes going forward, can we really lay the blame on McClay? In this dysfunctional organization? How do we know how much his voice is being listened to? Maybe Larry Lacewell or Barry Switzer disagrees. Maybe another prospect shares a birthdate with the owner.
That's kinda my point. I'm for him until his reconcile proves unsound.

The Mincey and McClain selections were early. He should be judged directly on how they work out.

That really isnt fair. He should be judged on all the players brought in. Just like one would do a draft class. We have no information that states that no other teams were interested in those two players.

You know I would normally never disagree with anyone who has over 2300 likes... but I'm sure Dallas did their due diligence on those two guys.

I'm not sure that I understand why you don't like that Dallas clearly thought they'd be a good fit in their defense and signed them to reasonable contracts.

I do agree however, that if they suck, it should reflect poorly on the decision to sign them. I don't know why it wouldn't.

maybe the due diligence was done. seems very critical to me

By the size of the contracts they signed and when they signed them, I think it's fair to say there wasn't much of a market for either player. These guys were offered scraps and signed on day 2 of free agency.

It was like going to a homeless shelter and asking someone if they wanted a job. And in the case of Mincey, a house and a car.

So now were complaining about when these guys were signed?

Dangit.

I wish I was included when these talking point emails are sent out.

I have nothing against Will McClay, but c'mon, the hype on him is getting a little ridiculous. We've signed two spares and a former Marinelli player.
The Jones family and the local media, sell Cowboys fan Dog food every year. and some of you still buy it. Will Clay is just the latest. keep buying those tickets to games, and you will get more of the same.

Would I give props that our Director of Personnel had to see both the OL and DL reach debacle status before acknowledging they need players there?

No. My bar is set slightly higher. I would never so casually hand out props like that.

You had compliments out like they are manhole covers

I agree.
If I had to rank order needs by position, WR would be very close to the bottom.

So what that means, if true, they are comfortable with either Dwayne Harris or Cole Beasley starting if someone turns an ankle.

Sorry, that is a little concerning to me. But that's just me.

Some Rookie Free Agent could take their Roster spot. Not really concerned @ WR ... also we have like 130 thousand TEs.

For me the order of concern puts Dline safety, oline ,LBs over WR's. in this deep draft I would certainly look at WR.
