Stephen Jones: One of our goals is to draft a QB

I think there’s something to that, but for the most part, Jerry is big on “loyalty.”

I believe he feels as if he says “hey you’re our guy, no question,” it’ll inspire performance.

And also the guy that thinks that paying a guy more money will make the player, and consequently the team….better.

He also claims that people perform much better with “their back to the wall.”

It’s an all over the place philosophy, and probably all too often he tries to apply things that may work well in the business world toward building and NFL team.
Oh there is no doubt Jerry is big on loyalty... Almost to a fault.... As much as there is no doubt Dak and his agent fleeced Jerry however at the end of the day, who (in management) signed the contract for Dak to sign? Jerry...... Yes the amount is market value. Dak knew no other team would sign him for that much so he would be a fool not to sign Jerry's contract. It would be either that or not play at all... Me (given Dak's proneness to injury), I wouldn't have re-newed the contract. I would have taken my chances in the draft or free agency.

Stephen just wants to sound like a football guy, really wish him n Jerry would shut up and let the ppl that really do the work talk.

Anyway, I'm all for drafting a QB, even in the mid rounds, because some of these guys have played a lot of football so they don't have the Trey Lance issue. Tyler Shough, Will Howard, McCord and Dillion Gabriel are all decent options. I still don't believe they go without a veteran QB2

The Cowboys would still need a great QB whisperer/developer on staff in order to train that late round QB selection along.

I don't believe anyone on the current staff could accomplish this.

Finding a QB in this year's draft is going to take a lot of skill and luck. I don't think this year's class of QB is especially good. Just stay away from Ewers. He seems like he needs a lot more than I would want to give him. Now watch him prove me wrong with a spectacular rookie season!

Well yep. They would certainly rather overpay for Dak than go into a period where they are searching for a QB. Can’t sell that and Netflix doesn’t answer the phone for a five win team.

Jerry can sell mediocrity as being great. Didn’t want to lose that. Consequently they will not win a championship or come close, but they can still claim those three from a different lifetime ago. It was all them. So much that they can’t come close since.

Sure sounds like they don't expect Rush or Trey to return........they may surprise us and draft a day-2 QB to send a message to Dak
They already wasted a 4th rounder last yr on a guy that never saw the field. Why not waste a 2nd or 3rd rounder on a similar bench warmer. This front office.

Should have been did this, BUT THE KEY NOTE IS, he can't be drafted in the 7 rounds of the draft, has to be a feel good story of a UDFA, and the player can't be good enough to cause a QB controversy, we don't like that here in Dallas!
I honestly think we should draft one in the first . It is what it is

Ya I want a blue chip immediate contributor

But the right thing is to grab one while you’re picking this high and your guy is 32 and getting worse and worse

Yeah agreed. It’s anyone’s guess but I would assume they aren’t taking a QB round 1 or 2. Maybe they surprise us and do like Atlanta a season ago but I’m very skeptical they are looking for anything other than a developmental guy to take the Trey Lance role.

I’d love to see a later project QB and then also a FA QB. There seem to be a lot of former 1st rounders who are settling for backup jobs these days. I wouldn’t hate gambling on one and possibly finding this years Sam Darnold or baker mayfield.
Those guys weren’t as bad as our current guy, just no weapons to throw to. Darnold maybe, baker was always who he is and will continue to be. Most knew that they were being unfairly cast and there aren’t others like them sitting out there. If Dallas want to make that move they should’ve done it two years ago when Baker proved himself for the rams, however, Baker would never play for this team. Texas hasn’t been good to Baker, hence reason for going to OU w/o scholarship initially.

A lot of em also don’t have the Dak Prescott issue.

I can understand that the common fanbase would probably come undone, but it would sure be nice if the Jones boys didn't talk to the public or media about what they're going to do.
Just shut up.

If it’s not a 1st rounder I don’t care.

I don’t want to continue the Romo/Dak experiment.
There are several 2-4 round QBs with a lot bigger upside than Romo. In a QB weak draft, there are LOTS with a bigger upside than Dak had coming out of college. We gotta roll the dice sometimes. IMO there are NO first round QBs in this draft. The handful that are rated in the first wouldn’t be any upgrade over Romo. Right now, I’d take a fence post over dumb Dak.

I’m sure this will sound crazy, but I would definitely go after Aaron Rodgers. I think he could be had for a decent price and it would light a fire under Gimp Prescott.

Give me 1st round talent at QB or give me nothing.

Dak sucked coming out of college. He only got drafted because he could run. If he would’ve been a pocket passer he’d be selling cars somewhere right now.

I’m done with Jerry trying to find his Tom Brady.

I’d rather wait instead of wasting another decade on some mid to late round bum trying to figure it out.
