Stephen Jones: One of our goals is to draft a QB

They definitely should Prescott is basically in the same situation Romo was in 2015 thru 2016. His body is deteriorating fast.
Dak's injuries are not like a back injury though. And Romo would have continued his career if not for what Dak did his rookie year.

Sure sounds like they don't expect Rush or Trey to return........they may surprise us and draft a day-2 QB to send a message to Dak
We have too many needs to draft a day 2 QB. But I’d always be looking for a guy to develop. Give them a couples years and churn. On a side note the lack of pre season games makes it much harder than when romo came in

I totally agree with drafting one and bringing in some FAs but Dak and Romo??? Romo was a lot better QB than Dak but both were/are far from any QB that will ever lead a team to a SB.
Regardless of what you personally think of them, you cannot argue that both players significantly outperformed where they were acquired. Dak was a comp 4th round pick and Romo was an UDFA. Dak is 76-46 as a starter while Romo was 92-64.

As unlikely as it may seem a lot of teams aren't as high on Sanders as some may think. What if Sanders falls and is there at 12, do the Cowboys turn in the card? I don't give that scenario a high probability but would be interesting....

Otherwise a day 2 pick of a QB doesn't sound that far fetched, but unless someone they love falls I'm thinking the 4th or 5th round is the highest probability. The Cowboys likely get atleast 2 5th round comp picks, possibly 3.

They have two 5th round comp picks. Obviously drafting anyone in the 4th round is not an option.

Why bother? We all know it'll be some late round pick or UDFA. Just suck it up this season and go get Manning next draft. (I know, I know. One can dream about something with this team).

Why would he announce the team’s draft strategy to the world? He’s such a freaking idiot
They really can’t help themselves. They just have to get in front of the tv and talk. A collection of smart dumb people. Is it any wonder why they get taken to the cleaners by other gms.

Romo..yes. Dak was way over drafted in the 4th. You said maybe we’ll find another Dak or Romo. Why would we want either again? What is their combined playoff record? That’s the only W/L records that matter.

And what message is that exactly? I mean daks contract is prohibitive to cutting him, though not entirely impossible, but a 3rd round project qb seems reasonable to be ready to take over when dak is just about done with his current contract.

Are you thinking about it differently?
Yeah, way too late for that message. What, bench Dak and let him collect huge checks riding the pine? Yeah, another great plan!!!!
