How can anyone take anything the Jones say seriously? As previously pointed out, this was a team strength at the beginning of the year. The injuries had nothing to do with that being a false statement. What has Crawford done?

I guess I would say I'm just glad they at least see this as an area of need now.... That's all I got

So Stephen is just saying what daddy is telling him to say. When will we get to hear it straight from the Head Idiot's pie hole?

#1. Spencer was just breaking out becoming a major presence in the pass rush, and was ALWAYS a very very good run defender. you making a guy, who was a pro bowler sound like a JAG is pretty interesting..
#2. Ware said all pre-season that he was the healthiest he was in the past 3 years.
#3. Yes, Jay was hurt for 2 years but led on to the Cowboys brass that he would be ready during the season. He was in TC for crying out loud...if he was hurt so bad, why was he there..
#4. Hatcher was always a solid dlineman. Show me a team that has pro bowlers at every position of their d-line. And when given the chance, look what he did this year...
#5. I can show you multiple sources that stated that crawford was due for his breakout season. That is what you look for in a reserve.
#6. Bass might be a dime a dozen kind of guy but also showed better than any of the guys we pulled off the street save Selvie.

And if im not mistaken, JJ never said the d line was a strong part of the team for the future. He was talking about this year alone.

Did you happen to see the following question and answer in your link?

How does the Dline look to you this year? Depth looks real shaky to me.

Jon Machota: Depth definitely isn't a strength on the defensive line. If that front four is going to be effective, Spencer, Ware, Ratliff and Hatcher need to be on the field often. If there is a significant injury, I think Tyrone Crawford has the most upside of any of the reserves. He could have a breakout season if he's called upon to play significant time.

Depth and question marks were all over this DL. This isn't something that came up recently. Reporters, such as the one you linked, saw it and the board here saw it. We neglected the O line last year and people here knew it was a need and we neglected the DL this year and, once again, people knew there was a need especially since we changed to a 4 - 3 defense. The bottom line is that the GM has no idea how to build a team. Not he nor his off-spring. None. And what's sad is that the glory years that he keeps referring to with a wink and a smile that every homer here falls for was built by dominant lines on both sides. Jerry the Trainer has absolutely no excuse....none.

He mentioned Tyrone Crawford coming back will help but he sounded like that's gonna be a major area that they will address in the offseason.

Crawford was drafted to play what position again??????? Oh, and by the way, I know the homers like to compare him to JJ Watt after his one coverage sack in his rookie year but to be honest I don't see much more than a good hustling, rotation backup at best

Much like a lot of guys on our team we tend to hype them up......I won't mention any names....cough, cough, Bruce Carter

We know nothing about Bass and Crawford. They have no more experience than the players who replaced them. Ratliff was never going to play for this team again--everybody knew that--and didn't exactly light it up in Chicago. Spencer is the only known loss, and he wasn't the difference between the worst defense in Cowboys history and even a middling NFL defense.

Packers say hi.

Crawford is a 3rd round pick and was getting pressure last year toward the end of the season. Bass was a rotational guy and was going to make an impact. Rookies on the d line make an impact all the time. They may have been question marks but they were familiar with nfl competition and would of made a difference. People thought Ratliff was coming back by week 6. Obviously he was healthy enough because he landed with the beats and played this season. What would of you have done differently? Drafted floyd? I like our Draft and think our dline was just hammered with injuries.

The Packers may say hi, but show me a team that wen through 16+ dine man and won a superbowl...

Thus far, Selvie and Haydon have more NFL production than Crawford and Bass. In fact, if Crawford had played this year and achieved the same production as Selvie, we'd all be heralding Crawford as yet another great Garrett draft pick.

The 16+ defensive linemen argument is absurd. The Cowboys went through so many because they couldn't find adequate replacements. I'm sure the Patriots could've gone through 16 wide receivers at the beginning of the year if their personnel department had been less astute.

Crawford has a chance to really make an impact... He was key this year before the injury.

Too bad he didn't read this site last June when some were saying the same thing.

As far as the defense is concerned, getting a new Defensive Coordinator and shoring up the D-Line and the Linebackers would do wonders in my opinion. Having a consistent pass rush would help our secondary immensely because if we get constant pressure on the quarterback he obviously wouldn't have time to find holes in our pass coverage.

Yes, that is true they had more production, but what does that mean? They also had more production the sheldon richardson & star? Just because they haven't had the opportunity to make plays yet doesn't make them bad depth or a bad player. We went through 16 d-lineman because we were churning the roster. You still haven't said what you would of done differently this year.

Anyone that spent the majority of the season on IR needs to be 3rd in the depth chart at their respective position. I hope we don't make the mistake in counting on Crawford and Johnson to play significant time.

does he mean CBs?

because i have been told that great defenses are built on having great CBs

i was hoping we would draft another one in rd 1 or even better, trade up to draft one

When you have crap up front it doesn't matter who you have in the secondary. Look at carolina. Does their secondary scare you? Captain Munderland?

Nice work Stephen. I guess now you'll draft a few more CB's....you can never have enough.

We can give up our first two picks to move up into the top 5 to pick up another CB.

DL, LB, safety and guard would make a lot of sense.

As would QB.

This thing with Romo is a crisis for this teams future.

We might have ignored finding his successor up until now..

..but these back surgeries are very, very bad news..folks.

Mid to late rounds sure. 1st or 2nd round heck no.

Romo had a 3 to 1 touchdown to interception ratio and close to 4000 yards. Not his fault the defense was atrocious.
