They talked Jerry out of a qb last year no way it happens again. Besides I'll never forget the look on the Jones's face when Tony went down the last time, reality slapped them hard

Hope you're right, but hope someone smarter than Manziel is available this go round.

He's your only real shot. The guys in the draft will likely all suck. The young QBs in the NFL are woefully lacking compared to 10 years ago. Just a collection of JAGs.

You don't know what the guys n the draft are. I would agree that they are probably not equipped to play from day 1, but the beauty is they won't have to, they can learn from one of the best. The young QBs in the NFL are forced to start from day 1, and some are progressing nicely. The longer you wait to draft your next QB, the less likely it is that you will find a good NFL prospect. College football, especially at the Davison 1 level, are recruiting and using the spread option QBs. It will get harder to find a pro ready QB, your best bet is in the lower divisions of College FB.

This FO is just afraid to draft QBs,they have afraid of missing as badly as the last few Qbs they drafted and its why they will bring in terrible QBs for Backups rather than take draft QBs.

Exactly

When you're incompetent and know that you're incompetent but won't admit you're incompetent .....

They fall into the trap that "we can use this pick on a player that will help the team rather than on a backup QB who won't see the field" far more than they are afraid to draft a QB.

If Jason is still running the show then the clues to who will be considered for the backup QB center around these factors:
1. Do they have experience in the Coryell offense trained preferably by Norv or Linehan? Bob Bratkowski, Cam Cameron, Brian Schottenheimer, and especially Hue Jackson (because of the current success of the Bengals offense) are also considered worthy mentors of Jason's interest in a player.
2. Did they attend a school that has experience in distance and timing routes?
3. Do they or did they attend a high character school like Baylor?

My guess is that the QBs with most of those qualities would be RG3, Taylor Hernike, or AJ McCarron (would have to be a very valuable trade)

But if Jerry saw that Weeden and Cassel were erroneously trusted with the keys to the Ferrari based on Jason's "Norvs stamp of approval" and Jerry is reconsidering the Garrett's (Judd and Jason and whatever influence Jim still has) talent standards (as evidenced by this season's wave of non-RKG players and the failure of Garrett players such as Streets and T.Williams), he might seek the backup QB on his own...like Manziel or someone from his favorite schools like Oklahoma, Arkansas, A&M, or Boise St.

Ultimately, if Jason is still coaching and is unyielding that his "system" is the absolute monarchy of the offensive part of the team, then no matter who the QB is, aside from one who can scramble well, the speed and talent around Dez has to improve or the QBs in Jason's system will continue to encounter the failure that Romo, Weeden and Cassel did this year. Streets runs a 4.55 and gets knocked out of his patterns and Terrance Williams, plays scared, runs only a 4.5 and doesn't catch the ball above his chin. Most successful Coryell offenses have WRs who run under 4.4 (see the Manning Colts and Warner Rams). Dallas has WRs who would be great at high percentage offenses like the WCO: tall, good RAC and prefer close high percentage passes.

To be sure, look at this basic description from Wikipedia of the players required for Jason's Coryell offense contrasted with a Walsh WCO:

"The Coryell offense attacked vertically through seams, while the West Coast offense moved laterally as much as vertically through angles on curl and slant routes.[24] The Coryell offense had lower completion percentages than the West Coast offense, but the returns were greater on a successful play. "The Coryell offense required more talented players, a passer who could get the ball there, and men who can really run—a lot of them," said Walsh.[25] He said the West Coast offense was developed out of necessity to operate with less talented players. He noted, "[Coryell] already had the talent and used it brilliantly."[25]

And we don't even attack down the seams.. We can't even do Coryell right...

This team could have had the best backup QB in the NFL and it wouldn't have made much difference.

OK, so what do all these teams have in common?

Chicago
New Orleans
St. Louis
Miami
Jacksonville
Atlanta
Indianapolis
Cleveland
Detroit
San Diego
Tennessee
Baltimore
Dallas

There's not a single winning team on the list.

And they start from a -2 turnover differential for Chicago to -15 for Dallas.

Many underestimate how negatively powerful a -15 turnover differential is.

Again, the best backup QB in the NFL (Hasselbeck?) wouldn't have made much difference.

Our offense has 23 TOs.. So a back-up could reduce TOs on the offensive end, reducing the differential..

This is what I don't get.

They had Weeden for 2 seasons, he even got all the first team reps when Romo sat out of Wednesday practice. So how in the hell can they watch the guy for 2 years, even practicing with the first team offense and he turns out to suck so bad?

None of our coaches or scouts noticed him sucking in practice?

This is what is more disturbing when you think about it.

They are BSing.. They absolutely thought Weeden could win them a few games. Then when he couldn't, they needed an excuse for coaching so they got Cassell and hoped he could pull it out, but he couldn't win in this trash system.

I disagree. Garrett supposedly liked Andy Dalton quite a bit a few years ago. I think it is just a matter of a QB falling to the right spot.

In no way, shape or form should the team have invested any decent draft pick in a QB after Romo signed his extension. The bad thing about spending a pick on a QB is that you feel entitled to carry 3 quarterbacks because you want a veteran and remember, up until two seasons ago, we had one of the highest paid backup veteran QBs in the league (Orton).

QB is the absolute biggest gamble in football, a lot of the starting QB's of the playoff teams today were acquired through free agency. I don't judge the team for choosing to spend draft picks on a player that will not see the field...I judge them more for sticking with Weeden, knowing that he wasn't the answer since they traded a draft pick for another QB right after Romo went down.

It's not just QB. We're going nowhere. Empty the bench. Play the guys that are backups to see what you have. Get a Headstart on next season.

It wont do any good. Garrett had a headstart on his HC career since he was the OC here already and his system was in place. If it didnt do any good with years of getting a headstart for his HC gig, no way in **** 3 games with this mess will do anything.

We blocked a FG against Seattle. All we had to do was get a couple of 1st downs to ice the game. Instead, we ran 3 straight dives in the middle of the offensive line and punted the ball back to Seattle DARING them to win. This is familiar refrain....over and over and over again!

The Garrett-homers like to draw imaginary lines as to when the team folds, just as long as it absolves the HCs offense...
