No...........

You take the best player on your board at the pick you are at. You don't reach for a QB because you think you need one, you only take the QB if he's one of the best players on the board at your pick.

th

Codswallop!! Now I am miffed and peeved. YOU ALWAYS TAKE THEIR SIDE!!!!!

Look, mates. We'll be in contention with a number of teams for a blue-chip QB.
Titans won't need a QB. San Diego still believes Rivers has maybe 3 more years left. the Lions already have a slinger. The Browns now believe Johnny Looseball can play -- they won't be in the QB stakes.
The Dollphins have their Aggie QB. Now as I see it, the 49ers might be interested in a QB pick in the first round. That team will be our main competitor for a QB in the first round.

Just get the best QB in the 1st round Sir Jones and quit dragging your Italian-loafered feet.
A QB, Sir Jones, not a backup.

Currently the Cowboys are drafting 6th, Their are several teams ahead of them in need of a QB

Browns-- desperate for a QB (Manziel is a handful, undersized and no talent. They are only playing him to raise his trade value in the offseason.
Chargers --- might need a QB (or choose to move on from Rivers) they are in the same situation as the Cowboys.....have to find a replacement for a old aging QB that doesn't want to move to LA.
49ers another desperate team in need of a QB. Kap has worn out his welcome and Gabbert is not a long term answer.
Cowboys---desperate for at least a backup QB and is on a short leash to find Romo's replacement.

Dont expect to find any of the top rated QB's on the board at #6 and not sure what backup are really available. Kap, RG3 and Manziel will come with a hefty salary and want to start. Don't see no Kyle Orton type QBs in the NFL...most the good journeyman backup QB's are out of the league. Maybe Jerry thinks Tim Tebow could do the trick...who knows with this team.

I see the ghost of Al Davis raising up from the grave to give Jerry advice

Has anyone even watched Maziel play lately? The dude has looked really goodand has been playing the position well. Going through his progressions like a veteran and leading the team on scoring drives. I know he has some immaturity and off the field issues, but if you could fix that...

According to Mickey Spagnola who interviewed Stephen Jones today, The backup Qb position will be the teams #1 priority in the offseason.

Don't be shocked if the Cowboys start dangling draft picks to get a backup qb they really want.
I have a feeling Johnny Football will be a Cowboy for like a 3rd or 4 th rd pick or something. If Stephen says it's the #1 priority I don't think they will be taking a chance that someone gets released, That sounds like they will be making some phone calls and being very proactive in getting a quality backup.

Thoughts?

I think Kaepernick will end up being a Cowboy.

the only problem is this system has show that if you do not have an ELITE QB it fails miserably. so who is the Elite QB we are gonna draft/sign to back up Romo?

Yeah, he threw for 372 yards against the Steelers a couple of weeks ago, before that. He has a 89 QB rating for the season, which is not too bad all things considered (our backups). More importantly, he looks like a legitimate NFL QB on the field. If people actually watched him play instead of just regurgitating what some bias commentator says they would see it. I'm not a Manziel fan, but he has impressed me with his play lately.

1) The FO will remain loyal to Romo so... they won't say they are in the hunt for his replacement just yet.

2) The aging Romo is turning to glass so by saying they are looking for a B/U QB, they really are looking for Romo's replacement.

3) Showers, Moore, Cassel, Romo... that's 4 QBs and now the FO is admitting finding another QB is a priority. Showers may be reassigned a new position but the FO's admission spells doom for either Moore, or Cassel remaining on the roster.

4) While we are talking about QB's, something to think about... Brandon Weedon is on a team curently tied for first place while we are in football purgatory.

Excellent response, lad! I agree with much of what you say. However, let me say this: The checkout lines at WalMart are too long and I don't think the Chargers will be active in the search for a QB and the Browns, I am sure, will want to make their 1st round pick of Manziel work, to save face and to save their investment.

Intriguing thoughts all over this board as to QB.

I do believe that -- even, mate, even if we find a GREAT POPPERMOST TO THE TOPPERMOST QB IN THE 1ST ROUND, it will take a couple of years to give him experience behind Romo or a veteran QB or to work him into the system. I have no truck with starting a freshman QB but in reality, that is the learning curve with QBs. Think of it as a learning curve, like Lennon getting used to waking up with Yoko besides him. Blimey!

Teams usually don't let go of good backup QBs. We may have to draft one high to find a good backup or we'll likely end up with another Weeden or Cassel.

THe Jones think there are a bunch of them in FA who will be available ,i am looking and none peak my interest.

Just like there are no blue-chip walkons from Eastern Friggin Illinois.
Mate, where there is a will there is a way. Isn't that bloke from Stanford ready to play in the NFL?

sorry i disagree.I also disagree to the term blue chip QB.last year a lot of people had questions about Winston and Mariotta.heck a majority of this board though Winston will be a bust and Mariotta needs major time to work on his pro game.If you keep putting off drafting a QB then you will end up with Christian ponders of the world when you are really forced to draft a Qb.

I figured this would be the lesson learned from this season.

It's going to be Kap, RG3 or Manziel. lol.

Those three guys probably want to go to a team that they have chance to start. Although there is a big difference from wanting to actually having an opportunity.

If I am picking in the top 10 with this freaking awesome group of defensive players and an elite talent wide receiver I dang sure ain't picking a QB on a hope and a prayer.

No on RG-ME. Although , at a rock bottom price, low round draft choice, it might not hurt to see how he reacts playing in his homestate with a new start.

Manziel is interesting...

I would really like Kap though. I think getting Kap would be awesome.....Give hime a few years behind Romo. imporve his pocket game somewhat. and kap is the way to go....

imho.
