Pros

-Drafted Martin over Manziel
-Has given the power back to his scouts and drafts have been moderately better
-Has managed the cap well
-Is responsible for the youth movement in this team

Cons

-Released DeMarcus Ware (who eventually won a super bowl) and
made it clear he wanted to stay and restructure

-Refused to Pay DeMarco Murray (could go either way)

-His decision along with Garrett to go Dak over Romo. Jerry wanted to
give Romo the reigns back

-Was they key figure, along with Linnehan, to get rid of Dez Bryant

-Virtually made no effort to build key weapons in free agency or via trade

These are things we know! How would you rate him so far. Personally, I'm not convinced he's better than Jerry. Jerry at least took risk in trying to build a football team. Jones plays it very close to the chest.

I don't see getting rid of Dez as a "con", and apparently neither does the rest of the league.

My issue there is thinking Allen Hurns and Deonte Thompson were sufficient replacements.

I like Stephen. I can't wait for the day he gets full control of running the club. we weren't getting anywhere with ware. made no sense to continue to pay him. murray was just asking for too much. eagles overpaid. how'd that work out for them. Stephen has been fixing the cap he-ll his dad put us in. and he's done very well at it. next year we will finally have some good cap money. then we'll see how he plays the free agency game. getting rid of dez was a no brainer. he's the only one with the fortitude to do anything about it. I suspect his next big move will involve a hc and an oc.

They offered a contract to Murray
Dak was winning 9 games in a row?
or are you talking about thr 2017 season?

it wasn't for lack of effort. he tried hard to sign Sammy Watkins. chief's offered about the same money. but Watkins had to choose between dak and mahones. seems Sammy chose wisely. not Stephen's fault.

The only stat that matters in the end for a front office is "did you build a team that consistently contends". Some decisions are good and others bad in every organization. Thus far, Stephen approach has yielded no results, unless youth is some kind aspiration now.

Can't fully assess Stephen Jones performance as a GM until he gets his own HC. Jason is all Jerry.

Jerry was just on the radio.

Boy is he delusional. This ship is going nowhere.

He refuses to put any blame on the coaches. Still thinks all of those coaching changes in the offense meant something.

They basically think everything is ok.
As much as I loathe Linehan and Garrett, no HC or OC in the league can make the worst QB in the league look servicable. We’ve seen hours of game footage that shows receivers are open and plays are being left on the field

He'll be worse than Jerry
No grade is low enough

I don't see the Ware situation as a con. Ware was needed to carry the defense and I'm not so sure his back would allow that. That defense wasn't Denver. I loved D Ware, but the situation just wasn't the right one at the time.

Same with Dez. It was time to move on from Dez for whatever reason. Channeling Big Jake - Dez's fault, QB's fault, nobody's fault, it was time. Remember, both Tony D and Emmitt had to move on.

Overall, I'd give Stephen a C+, B- at this point. I prefer he's not the risk taker his daddy is. I shudder when I think of the risks ala trades that Jerry did. He'd be sending Seattle our 1st and 2nd round picks for Thomas.

you can't spend money you don't have. Stephen hasn't had the money to spend in free agency. this year they had to franchise tank and resign zack. that's more than 30 million between the two.
