I'm on board with re-signing Ro McClain. The deal has to be incentive based and have built in "outs" in case he violates the substance abuse policy again. I believe he and Randy Gregory now face a potential 10 game suspension should they fail another test.

McClain seems to have settled in at Dallas and may have found a home. He is a solid player and flashes playmaking ability. He also allows Lee to play the Will as a Pro Bowl level.

Hitchens can do all that for 16 games with no suspension looming.

And if he keeps retiring every few years he may be able to play until he's 50! Just sign him to a life-long contract and let him play whatever games/seasons he wants!

LOL!

Laurinaitis reminds me of Zach Thomas as far as his dependability. He may not be a Pro Bowler but I bet he would make this defense a little more reliable and stable.

And seriously, he is only three years older than McClain. I think he still has something left; why not try him out.

Laurinaitis is done. He was very solid but not anymore.

Remember the whole year late than year early argument.

Like I said, he definitely wouldn't represent the future, but he is the perfect guy for Hitchens, or another young guy like Wilson, to learn from. He's a consummate pro with a proven ability to find the ball and make the tackle. He would come cheap, so if he doesn't perform you just go ahead and make the leap to Hitchens/Wilson/Rookie.

This might actually not be a bad idea. Laurinaitis and McClain are polar opposites in the football spectrum. Maybe together we could get some amalgamation of an elite MLB who actually loves the game and sacrifices his body for it?

Bkight13, I like Hitchens versatility and think he is a solid player. But, to me, he is not much more than "just a guy". If he isn't JAG.

Count me on the resigning McClain bandwagon as well. A lot of Dallas players respect Rolando on the field and he was viewed as one of the leaders on that side of the ball in 2014.

2015 wasn't impressive as his first year with Dallas but a motivated McClain still have the ability to become an impact player at his position. I agree, getting caught smoking weed really put his team in a bind at the beginning of the season but you're sadly mistaken if you think Middle linebacker was the weak link in Dallas defense in 2015

Normally I would agree, especially about bringing in guys who are in the twilight of their careers. Laurentiis, however, is more of a cap casualty, like Ware, and may have something to offer in the right situation.

Given that McClain is unmotivated, uninspired, lazy, and can be suspended again at any time, this might be a good backup plan. My preference, though, is to find a starter in the draft. I like Hitchens but the Cowboys do not appear to trust him enough with a starting job.

I think Hitch is more than ready to handle the MIKE.

I just don't want to have to count on McClain for a thing. He retired twice, can't stay clean and was already a step slow in coverage.

I totally understand where you're coming from...the best ability is availability. Would never argue that your reservations aren't warranted.

I'm just on the opposite side of you on re-signing Ro my friend...it happens.

We just have to re-sign him.

Just check out the intensity.

But forget the fact that Russell Wilson scrambled off of right end to set up the game winning FG after the ball was snapped.

It always makes me laugh when people get upset about these things and say it weakens your position with agents.

As if any agent worth a darn doesn't know what a team's position on his player is.

I also find it funny people always think it's just the Jones boys who acknowledge these things and are therefore incompetent. You can tell they don't follow the league much outside of Valley Ranch.

For some their entire internet persona is based on "Jerry Jones & co. are incompetent."

As far as Hitchens goes he took a big step backward this season... He didn't look anywhere close to being as physical as he was in '14.

And I wouldn't want him starting.
