Which means he is doing it wrong. Probably why he can't get the residents of Kansas City to pay for and build them an ugly shrine (at least on the inside, it's a gorgeous stadium from the outside).Brett Veach is not doing radio shows either.
No one is saying dead money doesn't exist. No one says that it's not an issue. But the reality is teams all deal with dead money, they all have the same problems but when you look at actual DATA from the NFLPA and other sources, the Cowboys typically rank near the middle to bottom of cash spent over periods. Again, Blogging the Boys had a lengthy article about this last month with the basic premise that Dallas does not, in fact, spend as much as other franchises typically. For example, from 2021 to 2023, the Cowboys were 30th in cash spent over that period and that includes the massive extension to Dak.So explain how you can accounting trick dead money into nonexistence.
I won't hold my breath.
Sure and the Eagles came into the offseason with less than $3M in dead money and restructured literally all they could and ended up with $30M in dead money. No one is saying dead money doesn't exist. Is it your contention that Stephen is right and that, in fact, no one really outspends us?
He's doing that so the players will keep their price down. We're not moving on from anybody. Just trying to sign everybody cheaply. But they still won't use the extra money to get any real good players.Maybe I’m old school or old fashioned. Or maybe I’m just off in general, but it really rubs me the wrong way when you publicly mention guys by name as the reason you have to hold back. That bothers me. Just keep that in house. Just amateur in general imo
I think it is as simple as they are saying no to and towing a hardline with Prescott. They just paid Diggs handsomely less than a year ago. They pay talent, I think they think Prescott's talent is not commensurate with his asking price. He's doing that so the players will keep their price down. We're not moving on from anybody. I’m not disagreeing with you, I just don’t like that as a practice. The negotiations through the media is weaksauce and it may alienate the players being publicly named which adds to the toxic culture we’re dealing with. I agree with you that it’s an attempt to keep the price down I just don’t think it’s good for the team or the culture. He's doing that so the players will keep their price down. Prescott's agent clearly uses the media. He came out a couple weeks ago talking about ho great his leverage was. It is just the way things are nowadays.I’m not disagreeing with you, I just don’t like that as a practice. Cowboys EVP Stephen Jones on @1053thefan
on Jerry Jones saying Dallas would be "all in" this season: "Everybody has their own definition of what that means, but I've never not known us to be all in, nor have I known anyone we compete against not to be all in." What does he say to fans that don't believe the Cowboys have been "all in" this offseason? "We spend max, max money year in and year out. All 32 can only spend the same amount of money over a five-year stretch. When we're all said and done, we max out our salary cap every year. We will have done that. What comes with having a good roster, which we do, we're also looking towards signing our own guys. "It doesn't mean it happens overnight. But when you're wanting to sign players like Dak (Prescott) and Micah (Parsons) and CeeDee (Lamb), then you have to hold money back if you want to have a realistic chance of signing those guys."
This is the smoke screen the try to use."We spend max, max money year in and year out. All 32 can only spend the same amount of money over a five-year stretch. When we're all said and done, we max out our salary cap every year. We will have done that. What comes with having a good roster, which we do, we're also looking towards signing our own guys.
craps referenceOn the who?
Bingo!!!!!! They have no problem signing him for X amount ( maybe top 5 money ) but if he wants to reset the market as the highest-paid QB........prove it. In other words, dance in the NFCCG and/or Super Bowl and we can talk. They pay talent, I think they think Prescott's talent is not commensurate with his asking price.
Prescott and his agent seem intent on getting over $50M AAV, a shorter contract, and another no trade clause. It makes sense because the Cowboys did the much the same last time.Bingo!!!!!!
