I like that and that is the honest truth. Dak is supposed to be a difference maker in the playoffs. And is getting paid to be able to make plays when the going gets tough. He ends up being the weakness on the whole team once the get into the playoffs. And no amount of superstars can carry a man who is choking.
Exactly.

A true GM would know what Dak is, a sub talented QB who is good as long as everything around him is perfect. Dak is an accident waiting to happen. I do not know how many more playoff games we will have to lose before these 2 Bozos realize that Dak isn't the guy?

"I've got all the faith in the world we can win this thing with Dak," Jones said from the scouting combine in Indianapolis."

Why?

"Because we know him. We know what he's about. His leadership skills are undeniable. Impeccable work ethic," Jones said. "Other than he hadn't won some key playoff games, he's everything you want in a quarterback. From the day he walked in the door, he's won a lot of games. We just got to get over the hump."

Prescott is set to count $49.2 million against the 2023 salary cap. He is signed through 2024. If the Cowboys restructure Prescott's contract this year, they can create up to $22 million in cap space. With an extension, they could create even more room.

"We've got to have a plan to ultimately extend Dak," Jones said.

He started with: His leadership skills, and work ethic nothing about his actual on-the-field talent. Everyone knows this is just gaslighting.

100%. Sure Dak has a great attitude and knows what to say but what about on field skill set? No mention of that.

I’d take a dbag like AR or Brady that can take over a game when it matters. Who cares about his “insatiable appetite to be great.” Heck, every professional athlete should have that attitude no matter what.

yeah, jimmy said the same thing. Dak can win a super bowl if the team carries him like Trent Dilfer. Yep, who couldn't smh?

Man just build a rock solid defense around him and let's go. Tired of debating Dak.

Notice his last statement..........

Dak throwing dumb picks didn't help but we could've used turnovers on defense and real pressure. They're trying to surround Tannehill with a defense why can't we surround Dak? I don't care to get into the Dak war

Dallas Cowboys will never win a Super Bowl with Dak Prescott, and it's not entirely his fault.

How anyone still has faith in Jerry and Stephen Jones is beyond my understanding.

If Dak gets extended, I will be watching less of the Dallas games. Dak needs a lot of elite players around him. If he signs an extension for $50 mil per year, Dak will have a lower calibre of player around him, i.e., Dak can't lift the team up, he is just a good bus driver.

He's already at $50 million/year in terms of cap hits in '23 and '24. An extension would be done to lower it, but he's still the same player.

I think they're paying elite money to a good QB, which only gets you so far as we've seen during his time. Dak is our Kirk Cousins.

Once again, the Jones's have mismanaged the skill set of one of their players.

Just as they tried to make Marion Barber a starting RB and Byron Jones a safety, they have attempted to make Dak Prescott a prolific passing quarterback and that is not what he is or ever was.

Dak Prescott can be an exceptional game manager with a strong running attack. .He has the ability to get out of trouble and extend plays. However, he is not a strong arm, pinpoint passer. If they had just continued the same approach as in his rookie season with a few added wrinkles then he would have probably produced the same mistake free results. With the defense the Cowboys had last season they could have just told Dak that it's okay to throw the ball away and let the defense keep it close.

Any time that Dak has to throw the ball more than 28 times there is going to be a problem. I can see them throwing more if the team is a few TD's behind in the 4th quarter but they went "Air Coryell" when they absolutely didn't have to. It doesn't matter if they only average 3 yards on the ground, they would be eating the clock and staying away from turnovers. They would improve the ability "play action" to be more effective.

Yes, they can win with Dak, but what does that really mean? We know that the Ravens won with Trent Dilfer, the Giants won with Jeff Hostetler and the Bucs won with Brad Johnson. What did they all have in common? They had a smothering defense and the Cowboys can have the same for 2023 if they make the right moves.

However, that's the problem. Despite having a superior scouting department, the ultimate decision maker doesn't have the ability or talent to make the right decisions.

What is the definition of insanity? Some say it when you do the same thing over and over and over again and expect different results.

The fact that Jerry still holds the position of GM is insane.
that says it all, but it is the jones boys that like the passing attack over a run attack. Same is true for many fans.
I remember people complaining about dak cant get over 200 yds, then 300 yds. even though cowboys were winning.
Jerry wants fans to be excited, and he thinks that means a good passing game.

Hiring kellen as OC kinda proved that.

if they extend him with a raise, all that does is push more $ to the end of that extension.
So if they get rid of him later on there would be all that $ to consider. It is a cycle that is going to kill the team for few years at some point.
Better to deal with it now than later, let contract play out.
They could then tank in 24 and get a high round 1 pick.
