Steve Smith to the Cowboys?

why must these people(mosley, hostile, etc.) continue to tease us with this stuff?

NOBODY better warm up to this idea, I started a thread about this very possibility about three months ago and 99% of the posters who replied thought it was a stupid idea, couldnt work. I mean, they HAMMERED ME, tough crowd in here. Hmmmmmmmmmmm, think I'll go dig that thing up!....;) Nawww, j.k....

I don't see this happening.

The Panthers will not trade him within the NFC.

I could see the Dolphins going after him because Henning had a relationship with Carolina and Parcells loves Smith.

They will trade him to whomever surrenders the most.

My question is more about whether I think they are truly fed up or not.

Not where he gets traded to.

You're right, Smith would be more likely to whup McFlabb's butt.

Which I would pay a lot of money to watch. :)

Then again, I think the Eagles own the Panther's 2009 first round pick for Jeff Otah.

You teased us all offseason with DMac bro. lol but I feel you on this one. Do not really think this guy is going anywhere. At least not anywhere near us.

Well I certainly wasn't one of them.

Of these "trade candidates":

R. Williams, C. Johnson, A. Boldin and S.Smith. Smith is by far the best pure compliment.

All 4 players would be a huge acquisition and make an enormous impact, but I would chose Smith over the other three.

Man, as much as I want Roy Williams, Steve Smith opposite TO stretching the field would be ill.

Quite possibly the best 2 WR and TE group in the NFL. I am sure the DCs in the league would be thrilled to gameplan against them.

I would have to wonder if his ego could work along side TO. I think that would be a serious concern.

If he does not get as many balls his way because of TO and Witten...I could just see him starting up.

Steve Smith is a straight-up stud, and he'd be a perfect fit for us at WR. He's also a player that I think just wants to win, and he'd settle back down to his previous level of attitude if he were on a winning team.

Can't imagine Carolina trading him going into a pivotal season for John Fox, though. That's a team that's not far from being very competitive. He'd either have to be a hellacious headache for them behind the scenes, or they'd have to get a bundle for him. Anyone with the data on his current contract numbers?

Absolutely. Spot. On.

Interesting. His size does not bother you at all? The other guys are your typical WR superstars.

I would be all for the trade if you're going all in for a Superbowl this year, but just know that you're not going to get him on a discount and you're going to have to pay out the nose going into it. The Eagles can outbid the Cowboys in draft picks, so the Cowboys would have to give up draft picks and young players (Hatcher, Carpenter, etc) to stay competitive.

Also, I don't really think Steve Smith is a huge ego guy (by NFL superstar WR standards), he just has an Incredible Hulk sized violent temper. When that switch gets flipped, he could go psycho on anyone.

I think Boldin and RW are more polished receivers, but I think that Smith would be the best compliment to TO. Neither of those guys can spread the field like he can with that speed.

Winning is a salve for the biggest bruised egos.

I think the bigger question is his anger management issues. Is he just getting progressively more out of control, or is he unhappy not being on a team that's really a top contender? Tough to say without more details.

I don't think he has had an issue with passes his way before, mainly because he has always been the best WR.

Now, if we asked him to return punts, we might have an issue.

Do they even make salve anymore? I think I last saw it in a "Little Rascals" episode.

That's a valid concern. Not sure if he could handle it. He did however play with Chad Johnson at Santa Monica Junior College, so he's played with a WR with a big ego and big time skills to got with it.
