We are very lucky to have stumbled on him. But this isn't his time yet.

Ok............THIS is where we disagree. Romo is out for the first half of the year. Whether we like it or not , this is HIS time. Romo has made it that way, no one else.

The honest truth here is this. The Cowboys should have been looking for Romo's successor long before this year. But Jerry's feeble mind kept thinking that Romo had a good 4-5 years left. This is business, not personal. I'm a huge Romo fan, just as I was a huge Staubach and Aikman fan. But when it's time to go, it's time to go. Romo does not have time to wait for this team to build a good defense. He's not winning a SB without one.....PERIOD

If they have to rely on Dak, we're looking at a 6-10 type of season. He's not ready to win shootouts. The run game had better be the greatest in Cowboys history if Dallas is going to win without Romo right now.

LOL.......What is sooo great about "right now"?

Dont you see the writing on the wall?

-best young Oline in football
-Zeke at 21
Dak at 21

Its a dream youth movement. The quicker all these guys grow and get confidence together the quicker we become the team we need to be.

Do you NOT see how good Dak is? Do you NOT see it? Maybe you dont.

Im willing to bank my reputation on it. This cat will ball.

ROMO is better and an iron man even this time next season he will be better Dak is going to be the future but Romo is the present and will be until he retires or takes the hit that retires him

Romo hasnt played in nearly two years and cant even get on the field. It is actually a non issue at this point. Dak is coming and I have think he will be amazing.

What happens in this scenario, Dak holds the fort down. We are 1 game above 500. Romo comes in wins a few games but gets injured again, out for the season. That would be 2 season ending injuries in a row. Do we trust Romo in 2017 to stay healthy?

Exactly. With Romo, we had to win now. Especially seeing he is not long for this league. But if Dak pans out, we have a long time to build. Cut the fat on the defense and build that unit up. This offense is perfectly capable of having success. That's not the issue here.

There was never a future with Romo here. It was win now or bust. With Dak, you at least have a future to build on with a very young nucleus. And makes the Smith 2nd rd pick look a little better if he pans out. It can change your approach as well. I think this front office took so many chances in the draft because they were so desperate to win right this second with Romo because of his age and health.

We have no benefit right now to keep having Romo hold us hostage with his health.

One of the elite QBs in the league vs. a rookie? I mean I suppose it's possible Dak is better right now, but the chances of that are about .0000001%.

Yep and he is sooo elite that he cant even get on the field

When you cats tried to compare 2014 to 2016 I would laugh. YOu would ask me what was the difference and I would tell you 2 years.

Romo isnt 2014 Romo. He is old bra!!

Yes.......and sadly Stephen was quoted as saying...................."we hope Dak can just not turn the ball over". Talk about a vote of confidence?

I would be creating the image that we can all rally behind Dak and we expecdt magical things. If and when Romo gets on the field then we can talk them. Until then he is doing NOTHING for this team on the bench.

Now...now yes he is. He's gladly taking Jerry's money. Romo will be back this year and Garrett will play him so you can take that to the bank.

Brilliant logical retort. /Sarcasm.

Romo is an elite QB. Right now he is an injured elite QB, but still an elite QB.

I'm not sure what world you live in where elite means never injured.

EXACTLY!!!

Just sit back and enjoy all these young guys coming of age. All we have to do now is two things.

1. Get Dak up to speed
2. Improve the D.

If we can do that in a year or two we are looking at a 6 to 7 year Dynasty.

If we hang onto the Romo window then that starts in 3 years and half the cats will be older.

I agree................but why would you want that?

The best thing for this team is for Dak to go 6-2 and never look back.

Keep hanging on my man to that old and tired dream. While you are at it, I will be embracing the future. Dak is THAT good. I expect you to tell me I was right after...................Ill give you 4 games.

That's the most likely scenario for this season IMO, around the .500 mark when Romo returns. There is a good chance Tony gets injured again. IF he does and Dak goes back in to finish the season, it should be his team from there on out. No more relying on when/if Romo can play. It is not fair to the team, they need to build chemistry together and not always be wondering who the QB will be from game to game.

I'm not saying I would. It would be nice to have Tony healthy for the stretch run in December and without taking the
risks of him playing again too soon. Please remember, I was pushing for Dak to be taken in the 3rd round of the draft
while most on the board were throwing up for Wentz and Goff. I thought from the tape that Dak would be just as good
and possibly better for this team. I really want Dak to get the training he needs and then take the reins for 10 years or more.

Yup, and while you're probably right, it's also Jerry's excuse (AGAIN) to keep "Mr .500" around for another year.....

I was NOOO Dak fan in the draft. But the kid has shown me a lot. Your confidence is justified. Well done.

On the play that Romo got injured on, he seemed to be running sluggishly or slow. Didn't seem right. Like there was no bounce or hop in his step.
