Romo was never a dink and dunk QB and neither is Dak. Both of them will take what the defense gives them and if their guys can get open they'll make the throw. Romo's thrown a little more caution to the wind at times (and I think Dak has too to an extent like the hail mary throw to Dez that got picked off against the Giants,) but neither one of them are immediately checking down without any pressure. Dak goes through his reads and at times he's getting rushed and has to make the check down throw. I'll take a 6-7 yard check down to Witten on 3rd and 10 over trying to force a throw that isn't there and getting picked or incomplete at best. Have to play the odds, if the field is covered check down and play field position battle.

Yeah, with this team we have no problem getting to the end zone and scoring. We just have to hold on to the ball. He doesn't attempt a lot of downfield throws because if we just hold onto the ball, we'll win. And he's still one of the top in the league in adjusted YPA and ball in air attempts. Arguing about YAC is ridiculous, every team in the NFL has them, and this isn't even an offense predicated on it like NE.

He can get better, and that's the scary part. Once he gets a little more experience and confidence in reading coverage and trusting his WRs, specifically in the RZ, this could be the most dominating offense we've seen since the 07 patriots. But with this OL and his running ability, we'll be much more prepared against good defenses in the postseason.

All that said, it is completely foolish for anyone to tear down either of these QB's. Romo was/is a fine QB. Dak is/will be a fine QB. To tear either down shows ignorance or an agenda, IMO.
:hammer:
This should be the end all to any Romo vs. Dak, but what fun would that be?

Prescott is a complete QB..coming straight out of College he only needs experience.

Last year at this time Dak was at Miss. St. running a spread offense.

What he's accomplished in 1 year is truly amazing. But he still does have holes in his game he needs to work on. The great news is, his upside is huge and he'll only get better with more coaching in the pro style offense.

I don't think you can use logic and assume Romo is the same quarterback now that he was 2014. He sure wasn't that guy even in the limited about of games he played in last year....

This team is 12-2 and its hard to argue that it would have a better record if Romo was here. Especially a broken and brittle Romo.

I don't know who's more delusional here. Romo himself or his fans.

I think you can logically assume that he is better than 2014, based on what we know. It's also not accurate IMO to say he wasn't that guy last year when he was healthy.

The broken and brittle stuff is just nonsense the people have deluded themselves into but it is not based on reality.

We are going to be facing NYG, SEA, and the like in the playoffs. If you want to set expectations for playoff performances off of the Bears Bengals and Browns then expect to be disappointed. If we matchup against the Falcons or Packers then I like our chances but the playoffs are anything but certain.

and each of them have their own weakness. Seahawks do not look to be the same SB team they had. They are good and it would be a tough game but I think Dak and the Cowboys are capable of winning those games. Dallas played NY in 2 close games hell give me a 3rd game. There are no certainties when it comes to playoff football but Dallas has played some of the top defenses in the league and have won in most of those games. I don't expect easy games like the Bears Bengals or Browns all of the teams in post season are capable teams or they would not be there. You will see no prediction from me of blowout games on the other hand I have confidence that the Cowboys are very capable of winning these games with Dak at QB

Brees has 14 interceptions because he has no running game and no defense and has to throw under the worst of conditions. Heck I read today that in the six WINS the Saints have, the Saints defense is giving up an average of 30 points per game, which would be an NFL record. In the WINS. That's the bar that Brees has to clear just to get a win.
Dak has 4 interceptions because he is a dink and dunk bus driver who never has to take a chance, so he doesn't. Please don't embarrass yourself by trying to compare the burden of Brees to the easiest job in sports.

The easiest job in sports? Jerry, that's yours. Go drink a double whiskey with Manziel and rock each other to sleep.

Were we not 3-0 in the games Romo started and finished in 2015? The only loss in a game Romo started was the Thanksgiving game vs. the Panthers. Are we going to pretend if he'd stayed healthy all year we'd have had a losing record or something?

I don't know the answer to that. We might have had a winning record since he was 3-1 but if his passer rating of 79.4 held consistent through the year I could see it being 8-8.

It may be hard, but it's done more often than not. Since 1970, the team with an opportunity to three-peat has gone 13-7.

Ouch. I wasn't aware of that. I was hoping for a reverse of the 2007 season result.

People who rebut legitimate concerns about QB play with the current 12-2 record are missing the point. In 2007, there were legitimate concerns with the offense in the month of December too, the team was 13-3 and also had the #1 seed but still lost. It wasn't because Romo and Witten went to Cabo either.

Dak also had 279 yards passing. QB with 250-300 yards and at least an 80% completion rate are 21-2 over the last five seasons.

He certainly wasn't awful, but it was just unproductive. Not his fault, but big plays need to happen more often to avoid the drive-stopping mistakes.

Winston had 247 yards and 2 TDs, but the fumbles killed him. More like, David Irving killed him.

Romo made quite a career throwing 5 yard passes to Witten which also tremendously helped his QBR.

The thing is if the Cowboys don't win the SB, and the odds are that they won't we'll have to listen to the whining until Romo is banished from the organization– which is kind of sad really.

Such is life.. I have had to listen to the homer Romo crowd here for years say everything was wrong with the team but him. And how wonderful he was and all the stats etc. So one more offseason until he is cut, traded, or retired won't be too bad.
