Irving had great penetration and they tackled him ... from behind. Such BS

He would have easily made the whole play a lot more difficult, breathing down the neck of Rodgers. I consider that another gift by the refs on purpose irrespective of the throw..

Nonsense about Rodgers.. yeah he made great throws, but he was also gifted a FG the play before this on the bogus PI call that put them in FG range, besides the tackle on Irving on the Cook play that would have had Irving breathing down his neck with his speed..

The defense had held GB the whole second half basically to get them back on the game, meaning Rodgers included and all of that was nullified on absurd ref'ing, just like 2014..

How does Rod Marinelli manage to survive another year without facing the wrath of Jerry Jones?

Rob Ryan got canned for much, much less.

It really bugs me that DLaw uses an inside pass rush here. It is just plain stupid, the one thing you don't want is Rodgers to get outside the pocket.

That throws isnt there if they contain him and the clock runs out as Cook caught that ball with 2 seconds left.
Designed play...top to bottom. The tackle invited him inside and had him blocked...the guard pulls out to protect Rodgers no matter if it's DLaw beating the block or Durant spying.....designed roll-out and blocking scheme....designed slow patterns running across the field from right to left with Rodgers having plenty of time or buying more out there to guage the depth, etc. the receiver needed to be between the defenders. DLaw could have helped or at least occupied the pulling guard if he beats the OT, and the secondary could have covered better....just wasn't meant to be.

They were in a deep prevent which negates "jamming" at the LOS.

In addition if they doubled Cook then they're no longer playing zone, which again goes against the grain of prevent.

The throw to Cook could have been prevented by Lawrence not taking an inside pass rush and creating a log-jam of players in the middle thus allowing Rodgers to roll to his left.
against rodgers that prevent is not the right call, play man defense and keep 2 safetys back let them read rodgers, and rush at least 4.

yes they admit to practicing that alot, and we evidently dont lol.
They have dak stay in pocket, and they could do that same thing rolling him out.

I know what I'm about to say may not be a popular opinion given what he did to himself, but Randy Gregory not being available REALLY hurt us in this game. There's absolutely no way Rodgers has that much time to convert that third down if Gregory is on the field. His speed alone tracks Rodgers down before he can complete that throw.

It's really, really, REALLY a shame that he wasn't available. But, alas, we can't cry over spilled milk even if we can weep for its waste.

Good observation.

What the heck are you supposed to do vs this?

There is a pump fake, a rollout, a throw with a guy barreling down on Rodgers and in his face, a laser shot throw with one leg in the air (terrible mechanics), and a ball that can only because by a WR because it is thrown slightly out of bounds.

Where Tom Brady said earlier this week that he stays up late past his bedtime to watch Rodger's night games, I suspect it's to see plays like that one.

Crazy.

Sturm, you want to stand by the comment that it was a good no call on Irving?

they could only do this cause marinelli rushed only 3, if he rushes 5 this wont happen.
I am surprised he didnt rush 1 lol and rest in the silly zone letting gb guys run everywhere and rodgers plenty of time to find one.

The link is at the top of this thread and if you actually read it, you would see this is what I said:

The video above shows that Lang certainly did something that could have been called, but definitely stopped short of tackling him, or jumping on for a horse-back ride like the picture indicates.

The center is blocking Irving and that is why Lang releases him, but the picture sure makes it look like a blown call -- and something we will talk about, along with the play itself, for decades. It is one more layer of the onion of this instant classic, when one side was elated and the other gutted at the end.

So, I must ask, where in there do you see me suggesting it was "a good no call"????

I pretty clearly said nothing of the sort.

I didn't think it was the worst hold ever allowed and I certainly didn't think it was clean. They let it go. But, you don't have to create false opinions. I provide plenty of real ones in this story.

Actually rushing 1 might of been a better option as the clock probably would of ran out before he had time to find an open WR. There were only 2 seconds left when Cook caught it.

Still spreading the lie that he was tackled from behind.

He was pancakes from the front/side. The video shows this clearly. Be an honest fan.

Maybe complain about the hold that should have been a safety earlier in the game.
