Why is Sturm the only guy/gal in the Dallas media with 2 eyes, a brain and actually understands football????

I liked Sturm when he only wrote for his own blog. he was good back then.

Now he seems to write with so much more emotion just to satisfy the public opinion.

I'd dump Marinelli right now for Phillips without hesitation.

Marinelli last year was our hero. Unquestioned.

Now people want to dump him and i think its fair. Because we all know every great coach will forget how to coach in 10 months. It happens every day.... And they never come back.

He was never my hero.

The offense was definitely the hero last year.

I like Marinelli as a coach. I think he is great with the players and he's a great motivator. I just question whether or not the game may have passed him by just a little. That said, I am happier with him than I am with Garrett.

good article, sturm was saying be bold take some chances, face the fact your a underdog!
12 points wont win games.
I have been saying the same thing, adding be more innovative as well.

When dallas first started winning, under jimmy johnson, he took chances and gambles, and was very bold, in effort to beat better teams.
Some worked some didnt, but for most part it did work and it got his team excited in doing it.
They beat the Commanders who were unbeaten. 10-0 at the time in wash by just being bold and gambling alot .
The team gained confidence by that win, and people started to respect dallas and johnson after that.

Sturm's great. He's just wrong on this one. Nobody's perfect. You're not going to innovate yourself out of a bad offense. And people aren't crediting the team for the innovations they did try this weekend, anyway. Why? Because they didn't work.

What general fans always want to see is plays that work. They may call it innovation when the plays that don't work are conservative. They'll call it 'getting back to basics and just being more physical' when creativity doesn't work. Either way, they don't care. They just want to see production.

The reality is there are a lot of reasons why NFL teams can lose football games. Not all of them are the fault of the coaching staff. Though all of them are their responsibility. That's what's gone on in Dallas the last 5 weeks.

Let me guess.....you consider yourself part of the 1%?

I consider several people here to be at the top of the fan base in terms of knowledge.

The average fans that you meet in everyday life really have no clue. They know Romo, Witten, Dez and maybe a couple of others.

Are you kidding me? There are no style points in the NFL. That one win could mean the difference between plyaing in the playoffs or going fishing after the season.

Go look up how 2007 season turned out for the Giants and the Patriots.

You are missing the point. I didn't say that would be the preferred result, just that it is better coaching. With parity in the league any team has a chance to get lucky and win a game here and there while well coaches teams with backup QB will generally lose with getting some breaks somewhere.

Wade was not awful. He took a Buffalo team to the playoffs and lost via the Music City Miracle. He had an interfering owner that forced him to make decisions via his QBs like Johnson and Flutie.

You could have given Wade a legitimate OC with Romo, this team could have challenged every year.

Wade did OK when he 1st took over the teams but always ran them into the ground because the inmates would always take over and start running the asylum.

He was OK in Dallas when he took over the team that had been coached up by Parcells but then he destroyed the team mentality with no discipline or leadership.

Even Switzer won with Jimmy's team.

No problem, just figured you had done an analysis I missed which made you say he was middle of the pack.

No, it's just from observing other HCs. When their team is losing, fans often think all other HCs must be great but in reality most other HCs make a lot of bad decisions and many never get a good grip on their lockerroom. Some are good for a short time but either lose the team or can't get along with the front office.

Even some top HCs have not proven anything without super star QBs.

Completely false stop trying to be a internet detective, What I am irate bout is vanilla boy can win 1 freaking game without Romo

It is an example and has nothing to do with being a detective. Maybe the example is just too complicated for you to understand.

Sturm sums it up well. I'm normally conservative but I wanted to go for it on fourth in the first quarter. The third down dump off to McFadden was terrible.

I hate everything.

The moral of the story is that, by and large, the conservative approach is 0-4, the aggressive approach is 0-1.

The issue right now is that playing conservative is not putting points on the scoreboard and with the exception of the Atlanta game, this offense has not scored more than three TDs since Romo has been out.

And the aggressive approach is 0-1 in large measure to a historically bad special teams performance. At worst, the aggressive offense was neutral, equaling the Giant's offensive output on a net basis while simultaneously avoiding 3-outs and saving the defense in the process.
