Any use of argument that this upsets "competitive balance" can not then argue Suh's past history shouldn't be taken into account.

If the incident is to be looked at in a vacuum, then its impact on Detroit's season should have no relevance to the decision.

Either way, taking into account "competitive balance" and Suh's past history, or looking at the incident in a vacuum, a suspension is warranted. It's embarrassing that any other alternative would be considered. The very real potential impact of his actions were to essentially render Green Bay useless in the playoffs. I'm not sure someone who acts this way so often should even be a part of the league, quite honestly.

I turned off First Take this morning because the competitive balance argument of the game was used as reason not to suspend him by the talking heads on that show.

They took it as far to say that many people won't watch the game now. One of the guys did step up and say that we are talking about the Cowboys game here, and that ratings won't suffer.

Would Rodgers play if Suh had succeeded?

If they get by us, then suspend him for the game against GB. I'm sure some NFL execs have thought about that.

Point is Stash, we all don't like Suh....Let him play and let's kick his butt, or suspend him and make him watch his team lose on TV from home because he was an idiot, either way works for me.

Not for me.

As I said before, I'm big on accountability.

If Suh had succeeded in injuring Rodgers, the Packers' season would have been finished.

Therefore, I feel it's only fair that Suh's season should end as a result.

The Playmaker is on 105.3 The Fan right now. Doesn't think Suh plays. If Dallas could afford Suh, would you like him on the Cowboys? Playmaker: Yes.

Interesting - I agree with him.

The appeal is today? Anyone have an idea when we should know the results?

If it was accidental, then he just as easily could have been stepping on a teammate. He knew who was under him and could feel his foot stepping on that person. His reaction proves without question that he knew who it was and what he was doing. The 2nd step was intentional and blatant. If he didn't know who he was stepping on, he would have looked down to see if it was a teammate.

Does Goodell handle the appeals still? Or is it someone else?

The guy who will handle the appeal hearing is a guy by the name of Ted Cottrell.

If that name rings a bell with anyone, he overturned a suspension involving Ed Reed back in 2012.

Honestly, I'm not feeling too secure with the suspension sticking. I think Suh plays on Sunday.

Here's a stat that I heard this morning: When Suh is on the field, rushing yards per attempt: 3.0. When he is not on the field, 3.8.

I'd be shocked if they reverse the suspension.

"More people I talk to more I get the sense this Suh suspension could end up being a huge fine instead on appeal. Decision could come today

— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) December 30, 2014"

I don't see how that could happen, given the fact that the guy has done it before and was already suspended two games for it, and this is his second offense.

How would anyone rationalize giving someone a lesser punishment for doing it again?

It's an interesting line of thinking. I don't fully agree wit it but I respect your take.

This is what I am expecting. When they made it a 1 game suspension, they didn't leave any room for a reduction to anything except a fine. If it had been a two game suspension, they could have lowered it to 1 game. Now they can only lower it to a fine which is what seems most likely to me since they can't say 100% it was intentional and this is a playoff game.
