This is exactly why I wanted them to lose tonight.

I guess you forget that Rodgers and Smith were concensus #1 picks. San Fran did not decide until the last minute- picked Smith and have always regretted it. To say he was picked where he should have been is not accurate. He should have been the top choice

If team scouts were able to see into the future and the QB he developed into, he would have went with the #1 pick. Pointless to discuss who SHOULD have been the top pick over a decade later.

Fact is: He was the second QB taken in the draft, Smith went first, Rodgers fell. Looking at this now, that seems absurd. Rewind back, forget Rodgers NFL career, and it starts to become a little more understandable. Here's something to read

http://thesidelineview.com/columns/nfl/can-quarterbacks-mechanics-be-altered

Although there are many that don’t share Risdon and Cosell’s sentiments, Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy does. McCarthy has run a "quarterback school" since 1993 that charts "quarterbacks in five footwork drills that rate agility and movement," and focuses on "hand-eye coordination, finger dexterity, mechanics," according to Greg Bishop of The New York Times.

McCarthy’s quarterback school paid off in a big way for signal caller Aaron Rodgers, who came into the league with quirky mechanics taught by the University of California’s infamous (in NFL circles) head coach Jeff Tedford and has since become arguably the league’s best quarterback.

Rodgers held the ball next to his ear when he was in a pre-pass triangle set at California. The mechanics appeared efficient at the time because he was able to get the ball out quickly in the Golden Bears short passing game, but he struggled throwing deep.

His throwing motion led to him throwing outside of his frame, which is not ideal and "stresses the shoulder" as quarterback guru George Whitfield Jr. says, and his footwork also suffered as he was not able to get proper timing nor transfer weight with any consistency. Rodgers explained this in an interview with ESPN last year:

"When I first got into the league, I held the ball really high. That was the standard in college, and it messed up my timing a bit -- the draw, bringing it back, then the release... You’re taught to get back as deep as you can, but you can never throw the ball out on time when you do that."

You think team scouts didn't take notice of this with him coming out of college? He needed a ton of development with the way he threw, much like Bridgewater (He's having trouble with it). Kudos to both Rodgers and McCarthy in the development, but no one should be baffled why he fell in the draft

I'll finish off with quotes from NFL scouts of that time: http://thebiglead.com/2014/11/26/an...-aaron-rodgers-was-just-a-system-quarterback/

And for bonus points -- who was the OC for the 49ers at the time pulling hard for Alex Smith over Rodgers?

They still beat a playoff team on the road. Not saying AZ won't win but I don't think it's going to be a blowout.

Not like their last game. I'm guessing the packers make some adjustments if they can.

I love Skip. King of trolling Cowboy haters

Skip is the biggest tool there is. Not sure why he has such hate for Aaron Rodgers or where it comes from. This week he was touting that Rodgers is not any better than RGIII, It just shows you say something stupid people will pay to listen. There are a few candidates around football forums that can take his job.

How'd you come to learn that he said this ?

I'll be surprised if the Panthers get past Seattle. Even Panthers fans admit their pass rush hasn't been great lately and now their secondary is banged up. I don't think Seattle will light them up but 24 points could be enough unless Cam plays really well.

He's due for a bad game. I think that this is the game that Cam comes back down to earth. It's not like they have been playing any legit teams these last few weeks. This defense is going to be a test for him. They won last time, but if I remember correctly, he played awful all game and then got a td in the end on a blown coverage.

These two teams match up pretty well. Carolina stole that game in Seattle but they stayed in it to get that blown coverage play.

If the Seahawks do offensively what they did in Minnesota today, they won't win. Wilson has to get in gear.

The rematch should be fun to watch.
