Super Bowl is over, now time to focus on 2025 Cowboys

I just see nothing to be excited about. An uninspiring head coach hire, an overpaid injury prone QB, a cheap front office, and holes all over this roster. Not only does it feel like it'll just be more of the same to me, but I can see this thing regressing.

I feel pretty much like this Magic 8ball:

We can have the 1992 roster and many will still predict a losing season
I actually think its the opposite Jazz, its is because we dont have a roster like we did in 1992 is why folks dont think we will be very good.

Compare our roster to most of the teams in the NFC, you will quickly see that we are not a very well built or deep team and that come back to how the organization is ran.

Put it like this, we have not had a divisional playoff win in 30 years, why would anybody predict one for next year? Its like investing, you look at a stock's trend line and past performance as an indicator of future performance. Of course something out of the blue can happen and tank your investment, but by and large, a company that is well ran and usually hits their earnings target each quarter typically will keep doing that in the future.

The trend line of the Cowboys is down, like very down to the point of it being wise to "short the Cowboys" if you could, that would be easy money.

The team is gong to make Micah the highest paid defensive player in NFL history , and then Jerry is going to take a victory lap parading the contract as proof of his willingness to spend whatever it takes. The man has never understood his job, and I don't suspect football wisdom is going to strike this offseason either.
Yep, he runs the team like a fan......a fan that watches the ball.

Delay contract negotiation (long enough for Tier 1 FA's to sign)
Overpay our own (in respect of elite contracts. just accept the agents figure)
Fill out roster with JAG's

Have you really red this place?
So if this place existed in 1992, and they made the playoffs. Fans on here would say, we will get throttled in the playoffs. SF, GB, whoever are better, have the experienx=ce, and all that blah stuff.

Same for the SB, Buffalo, 3rd time there they will comp us.

I am not expecting any miracles at all. All I am saying is can we focus on the 2025 season, on how they will seem to improve with a young new coaching staff. If the FO changes and gives them a chance by getting some better players. But no one wants to understand that. Some just want to give their usual rants we see in every thread.

The 8 Ball should say...Check back when JJ is no longer the Owner of the team...

The 2025 Cowboys won't be worth watching. So, I will skip focusing on them. Free agency and the draft have little chance of changing my opinion.

Teams with GMs like the Rams and Eagles have learned that they can reboot and retool to get back a competitive team in 2 to 3 years......Dinosaur GMs like Jerry haven't figured out quite how to do that
Dak is eating 89M of cap.

Need another good draft like 2024.

after the big Free Agents get signed, Dallas will look at filling roster holes by signing players to league minimum. $1.xM

I believe we are slightly over the cap, so something has to be done before the league year starts in March.

they need $ for Turp, Lance, Hoffman.

there is a ton of dead cap/void $ in 2025 that prevents us from signing any big name FA.

the Diggs, Martin, Steele, Gallup, Dak contracts have been terrible for our team.

2026 will be better.

He will be restructured and the money used to sign Micah and a few low level free agents. They will sit on the rest of the money like a hen on a golden egg so we remain hopeful for a trade at the deadline. Meanwhile Jerry will waste another 4th round pick on someone else's 1st round bust.

Any money they add to Dak's contract will change the post June 1 cut options for March 2026 or March 2027.

Not sure they will do that.

They can free up some $$$ for 2025 by extending Micah.

Were the Cowboys in the SB? No, so the focus should have been there since the last regular season game.

Now that the SB is over. I will not be watching any sports shows about it.

We can now focus on the 2025 Dallas Cowboys. Yes, this thread too, will be taken over from negativity. But we all know why that will be also. The FO deserves it.
I will start it out below.

However, we got a new HC, and what seems to be, as he is putting together a decent young, new staff. That is the good thing, but that excitement won't be until game 1, or maybe in TC and PS games. As we have no idea what their impact will be.

Also, we have the same FO, yes, negative, and deserved. So will they allow the new coaching staff to succeed, or will they not give them anything to work with.
That is always still good to see how the roster is built.

Now we can focus on the NFL combine, then FA. Though it will be, what players we like to keep more so than what players from other teams do we like, that can make an impact. What players do they let walk.
Then the NFL draft, which seems light years away, without any great FA news, other than our own guys.

I am just glad this last lame season is over. Right now I care less about any other team, or how they were built, or what direction they go. Only concerned with Dallas and moving forward.

I was focusing on the Cowboys 2025 season after week 6 of last year

They are going to take the usual half measure.

They will restructure some of it to create room, kicking dead money down the road, yet not doing enough to improve the team.

They are quite committed to mediocrity for the long haul.
