I have decided on my surprise cut probability:

Kevin Burnett

His lack of size will finally be his undoing.

Does it matter that he's the exact same size as the LB that played extremely well at the same position in Wade's defenses for the past several years?

No not really.

This thread is all about throwing s*** against the wall to see what will stick...this is just my throw. I really don't know why but something that I read just put this idea into my head.

And get who? Vinnie Testaverde?
Answer 2: No, leave Vinnie working out in Utah home gym, eating granola, and flossing his teeth afterward.
Answer 1: Keep both rookies, with most reliable placekick holder as backup QB, and keep least reliable placekick holder on practice squad.
Problem Solved!(You're Welcome!)
Intuitively obvious truth: send Brad to Canada, to work out with Vanderjagt.

It's not that I'm a big Brad Johnson fan; I think he is washed up. And I've always said that we didn't need a veterian backup and sited Morton as Merideth's backup and Staubach as Morton's backup and White as Staubach's backup. But Morton was a 1st round pick, Staubach was a Heisman Trophy winner, and White had two years of Pro experience in the WFL before coming to Dallas.

I'm okay with not going with a vet backup but I do want a little more cred than an undrafted FA rookie from Tarlton State for crying out loud. Had we drafted Quinn (I'm glad we didn't BTW) I would be ok with going with him at backup. At least he came from a big time program and had seen and faced some of the better players in college. But Tarlton State? Come On!!

OK, Tarlton State is less known than Eastern Illinois, because I don't even know in which state Tarlton exists. But Matt Moore started as a FRESHMAN at UCLA, before moving to Oregon State, both of which play top NCAA rivals.
Moore has had some injuries.
But if young Romo is backed up by rookie Moore, that parallels New England in 2001, and I don't have to tell you what the rookie backup did that year.
If Romo can't play, we have a problem, but one which seems no worse with Moore instead of Johnson.

For what...5 games? Then the coach gave up on him and he lost his job. I don't know much about his OSU days but it doesn't appear that he was all that because had he been that is a big enough school to get him noticed...he wasn't. Like I said I have nothing about haveing a rookie as a backup but I want one with some kind of cred...Moore doesn't have that.

BTW Tarlton is in Stephenville, Texas about 75 miles Southwest of Fort Worth. Lots of hot chicks go there because they are supposed to have a great program for training teachers. But it is such a small school that I could jog my fat old butt around the whole campus without keeling over.

Bartel sounds like a smart guy, by aiming for the right motives at Tarlton State...maybe he's too smart to be a QB.
Moore, I've read, has had injury problems which, I believe, started his freshman year.
Regarding this competition, I just remember what Sean Payton kept saying last year: "the best players will play", and that concept of fair competition is needed.
If the 17 year veteran is better, then he should backup. If not, a rookie should back up.

Terry Glenn will hurt himself in a continued effort to show us he's not reliable (knee already acting up, MRI's already had- merely a week into practice), and rather than cut one of our younger up 'n coming prospects at the position we'll just cut our losses with the real problem.

If we can find consistancy out of Crayton/Hurd, we just really don't need Glenn when we already have 10x him in Owens. Sure $5m lost, but lesson learned.

Not too mention, Wade could see him as the last standing link to the Parcells-era and rather be gone with his old 'n tired ways, marking a new path for his new regime.

And I attest...not just hopeful thinking on my part. Common sense. And one of our younger guys CAN be just as good in this offense designed soley around the #1 WR and TE. As Mickey would overly say...No need for Steak on every plate. Even if healthy, Glenn and his position of 2nd wr is just not a place a steak needs to had in this new offense. An Alvin Harper type talent is all we need as long as we have Owens and Witten holding the majority of the fort down. I say Hurd can be that Alvin Harper type and do it at a cost that is reasonable for the talent needed. I also say that Garrett starts to see that too before too long. Of everyone out there that's ever been associated with this offense, he knows best of all the value of a receiver that can go up for the ball over one that has to be precisely thrown low too, like Glenn has to be thrown too being so smallish.

Terry Glenn and his overpriced injuries are my pick.
