Cowboys release

Cornerback Terence Newman has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster today as a replacement for the Arizona Cardinals' Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. This is Newman's second Pro Bowl selection.

Newman started all 16 regular season games and the two postseason games for the Cowboys in 2009 after battling injuries throughout the 2008 season. He finished the year with 68 tackles and second on the team with three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. He added a career-best 21 pass breakups and forced three fumbles, both good for second on the team.

Newman joins six teammates previously named to the Pro Bowl.

As much as Roy Williams and Flozell Adams got nods to Hawaii when they did not earn it in years past, this one is right there with them.

Unlike some I like Newman but I do not think he deserves to be named to the Pro Bowl. If a Dallas CB is to be added his name is Mike Jenkins.

We'll call it a make-up invitation. There were plenty of years he should have been there, and chumps like Deangelo Williams and Walt Harris went instead.

He's obviously deserved it more in the past. He played well this year, but not at a pro-bowl level. Jenkins is more deserved, but this doesn't rile my feathers....I simply take it as an acknowledgment of his past accomplishment....which is essentially what happens with pro-bowl admissions more often than not these days anyway.

If this is what's called a "make-up" for T-New as posted above, then I'm all for it and they now are behind in giving Mike Jenkins a nod.

I like T-New...I just wish the coaching staff would allow him to play up on the receiver instead of so far off.
