Unlike some I like Newman but I do not think he deserves to be named to the Pro Bowl. If a Dallas CB is to be added his name is Mike Jenkins.

I'm with you. Newman has the more recognizable name, but right now Jenkins is a better CB.

Cowboys release

Cornerback Terence Newman has been added to the NFC Pro Bowl roster today as a replacement for the Arizona Cardinals' Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. This is Newman's second Pro Bowl selection.

Newman started all 16 regular season games and the two postseason games for the Cowboys in 2009 after battling injuries throughout the 2008 season. He finished the year with 68 tackles and second on the team with three interceptions with one returned for a touchdown. He added a career-best 21 pass breakups and forced three fumbles, both good for second on the team.

Newman joins six teammates previously named to the Pro Bowl.

This would be a Wade Phillips doing. Thats what happens when you're the coach of the Pro Bowl team.

We'll call it a make-up invitation. There were plenty of years he should have been there, and chumps like Deangelo Williams and Walt Harris went instead.

As much as Roy Williams and Flozell Adams got nods to Hawaii when they did not earn it in years past, this one is right there with them.

I think Jenkins was more deserving, but Newman had a much better year than people in here give him credit for.

I'd be very interested in seeing some statistical analysis (Adam?) of some of the CB's.

How idiots could put Hall in the Pro Bowl mystified a lot of people. TNew should have made at least 2 other Pro Bowls so consider this one make up.

Doubtful. They used to allow the head coach of the Pro Bowl team to name a "need" player who invariably was a long snapper of their team if they felt they deserved it. There is a rule now banning that. I would assume the same applies to naming injury replacements.

Wow. I don't hate T-New, by any means, but how he gets to go over Mike Jenkins is just baffling to me.

Jenkins caught a lot of heat from his own fans last year and was doubted a lot until into the regular season. He has not built up enough "Street Cred" to be picked yet. Now if he had run a couple back for TDs he would be in. So many think BSPN highlights are all you need to make the pro bowl.

Let's be honest, the Pro-Bowl is nothing more than a popularity thing....and right now, T-New is more "known" than Jenkins by the people not fans of our team.

I will say he deserves it more than Winfield.

I still would have gone for Jenkins or Greer ahead of both.

The Pro Bowl coach doesn't pick injury replacements. They're determined by the voting of fans, players and coaches. Antoine Winfield was the first alternate, and he replaced Charles Woodson already. Sheldon Brown was the second alternate, and he must have declined to go. Newman was either the third or fourth alternate.

The Pro Bowl coaches still picks the "need" players, who have to be long snappers. The Eagles' snapper (Jon Dorenbos) was chosen for the NFC, and the Raiders' snapper (Jon Condo) was chosen for the AFC.

Wow. Simply just Wow.

Seems like there really are no good CBs in the NFC left.
