T-New to Pro-Bowl, REALLY!!

We'll call it a make-up invitation. There were plenty of years he should have been there, and chumps like Deangelo Williams and Walt Harris went instead.

This is just a great example how reality can be interpreted.

In fact Newman had one really good year with us. And in that year he didn't play great but he showed some promise that he could eventually be the CB in the following years we hoped him to be.

After that year he was hurt, had a soso year. And now this year his weaknesses were exposed because of the good play of Jenkins. And believe me he had some.

Now i can see 1 Pro Bowl selection. But to talk about plenty of years is just a bit overdone.

Cornerback Terence Newman was added to the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl as an injury replacement for Arizona's Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Rodgers-Cromartie suffered a knee injury in the Cardinals playoff loss to New Orleans.

This will be Newman's second Pro Bowl appearance. He played in the game after the 2007 season. Newman had 68 tackles, three interceptions, a career-high 21 pass deflections and three forced fumbles in 2009.

He will join Jason Witten, Andre Gurode, Leonard Davis, DeMarcus Ware, Jay Ratliff and Miles Austin in Miami for the Pro Bowl as well as the Cowboys coaching staff.

I understand many of you believe Mike Jenkins had a better year but Newman was at least the second alternate. Minnesota's Antoine Winfield was the first and has been added to the roster but has a foot injury so Jenkins may have a chance yet if he is the third alternate.

I still think Deangelo Stewart is better

For everyone crying about Jenkins, how many number 1 receivers did Jenkins guard this year. Say what you want about Newman but he had a solid year. I can only think of five or six occasions of him getting beat.

I think you mean Deangelo Hall not Williams.

this ^^^^ Newman had maybe 1 or 2 games where he struggled.. The Giants game along with every other DB on the team and the Broncos game which really wasn't even on him, Marshall grabs him at the line of scrimmage and the ball just gets over T-New's hands... The reason all of you Mike Jenkins lovers are baffled and are all on his nuts is b/c QB's actually try to still pick on the guy, very rarely does T-New get thrown at which prolly means he is shutting the guy he is covering down, which prolly makes this invitation to the Pro Bowl deserving. If you guys are going to bring up the 1 or 2 plays Newman got beat on, I like Jenkins better myself, but please bring up the plays fresh in our minds of Jenks getting beat by Maclin & then Sidney Rice. Thanks, congrats T-New.. Jenkins time will definitely come

lol you guys are just as bad as the media...you look at ints...and plays made...and say Jenkins is better.....

Newman was left 1 on 1...more this year than Jenkins, and still wasn't tested much..jenkins had a ton of help...but he still shut down...i like both

Watch the games...and stop watching int's

2009 NFL pass defensed leaders:

Mike Jenkins, T-6th with 19
T Newman, T -8th with 18

The 18 PD's were the 2nd highest total of Newman's career. He also increased his tackles over the past two seasons and forced a career high 3 fumbles.

Like I said earlier, he had alot better year than some people give him credit for.

yep all these clueless people want to do is watch who makes the most plays on the ball.. I am sure a ton of people don't even realize how important Steven Bowen & Jason Hatcher have been this season by getting inside pressure on the QB but not having the stats. Same thing with Spencer, until he started getting the stats people didn't want to show him any love but he was doing his job most of the time just barely missing. Sensabaugh as well had a great year, people don't want to point him out till he gives up his 1st big play of the year, people can't see what the safety is doing back there and even the CB's.. Newman had a great year, if you people don't want to admit it then whatever, but you aren't going to change my mind. WATCH MORE THAN JUST WHERE THE PLAY IS GOING, THERE ARE MORE PLAYERS ON THE FIELD DOING THEIR JOB THAT DON'T GET RECOGNIZED

exactly...Jenkins was tested more...as he should have been..and he answered..does that make him better? no

the coaches watch more in depth film, so for them to throw away from Newman..who is singled up a ton of times tells you something...

Newman got the nod over Jenkins mainly because Jenkins is in his first year of starting and Newman is more of a name than anything. Jenkins deserved to be in the Pro Bowl over Newman, but I'm still glad another Cowboy made it.

If the Saints beat the Vikings and head to the Super Bowl, expect Romo to be named an alternate because at this time he's the 2nd NFC alternate QB. Brees would be playing int he SB so he'd skip out as would Favre because he's ancient and there would be a need for two replacement NFC QBs.

your right ints are meaningless(sarcasm)yet more times then none it is how they are measured. I would ask you who do you think wade would say had a better year and was more deserving? maybe your obvious newman liking is swaying your opinion

The only thing funnier about Newman making the pro bowl is some of the people defending him here.

Newman plain stinks to the nth degree.

But, hey, on the bright side: maybe the Cowboys can trade him for something now.

Any fool team out there want to give up a 1st for him? A second? I'll gladly take a 3rd for him. I'll even settle for a 4th rd pick.

The sad reality: Bobby Carpenter right now has more trade value than Newman.
