Injury, bad attitude, came out early, run based offense. Only signed with us becasue Garrett was at UVA during his tenure plus our history of free agents WR making the team.

Our rookie TE is from the same school, no? Seems the Garrett connection has unearthed a serviceable guy AND a possible game breaker.

I think we're just beginning to see the tip of the iceberg with O.T. (ya like that, huh? A little T.O. opposite play there. I'll be here all week. Tip your bartenders and waitresses). I know he hasn't had much of a chance to contribute, but I'll echo the sentiments of a previous poster. I think he could very well be the next Austin. I'll go even farther out there and say that he has the skills set to be even better than Austin.

The Williams trade precluded us from doing exactly that. I don't recall anyone thinking we'd trade up into the first round for a wideout, considering we had no real trade bullets at our disposal. In other words, strawman. Love the "agenda" jibes, though. So fresh and original.

Every year pundits say we should trade up for a wr. And the agenda is neither fresh nor orignial, its just fitting. Maybe if you dropped the agenda, the tag would drop also. This is an Olgetree thread and yet your 'feelings' about RW (which are well documented) surface. You have an agenda. I called you. As Bill once said, you are what your record indicates. Your record indicates you have a RW agenda. Thats your problem not mine. Just calling it like I see it.

Yup, Garrett has the UVA connection. Same reason the TE was on our radar. Garrett knew him from his UVA days.

I think Wade is a better football coach than some are willing to admit.

I take it "agenda" is on your word-of-the-day calendar. Believe it it or not, it is possible to praise Ogletree without taking a swipe at others or making things up. Again, a few nice plays does not excuse neglecting the position for years and years and years. BTW, what's your agenda, besides playing defense attorney for Roy and overusing certain words till they lose all meaning?

Olgetree is not better than Austin now or in the near future as in the next couple of years. But he looks like a good compliment to him. As another stated, we needed a WR with the quicks. And Olgetree does look like he can play in this league.

He's going to get more opportunities when he proves he can handle the practice load and what they ask him to do.

As it relates to you and RW, agenda will never lose its meaning with you. For as mine, I have none. I'm no RW apologist. I think he could have played better. Unlike you, I think Romo is at fault also. I happen to think RW is a good player. Has it shown it hear, no. Can he improve on certain aspects of his game. Yes. Do I think he has the talent to be a diff maker. Yes. Will he, I hope so as its in the best interest of all Cowboys fans. Did Jerry over-pay, hard to say. If the Boyz get a SB ring, no... If they don't, yes.

I'm just refraining from being an instant evaluator. The coaches see more of the players than any fan. I'm smart enough to know that I don't know a whole lot about being an NFL talent evaluator based on Sunday performances with limited view of the players. My direct tv does not show all 22 action so evaluating players are limited. Plus, practice "in my best Allen Iverson voice" is just as important. Based on what I read, I think he put the time in during the offseason. I think that hard work will eventually pay-off. At least, I hope it pays-off.

Lastly, as it relates to money, I'm always amazed at fans saying an owner paid a player too much. Its not my money. I have no idea how to manage a cap. Thank goodness for Adam on this board, but in all honesty, I can't follow his cap recaps half the time. That stuff is over my head. But again, the money is not mine. The owner paid it. If we win, all is good in my book.

With that out of the way, lets focus on Ogletree. After all thats what this thread is about. I like his potential, what are your thoughts.

You apparently have a fellow fan in Tony Romo who is happy that the young WR is getting more comfortable with the Offense. I am told he said as much to Jason Garrett. Look for Ogletree to get more and more looks.

Hey, he was a key player in our win over Filthy. I'm glad we worked him into the lineup. Good call all the way around.

I have been saying for 9 weeks now to play Ogletree more.

Jerry Jones told the coaches to play him more.

Now, why can't Wade and Garrett see the oblious?

Desean Jackson would still be riding the pine if the Cowboys drafted him.

It is ridiculous not playing rookies. You don't have to start them but PLAY them some.

Wow; just wow.

Some people... hah. I trust Wade's football knowledge over Jerry's ANY DAY. ANY DAY of the week. and FIFTEEN times on Sunday. Who cares if fans and the owner are calling for him. I think the way Wade and Garrett are doing it is perfect. There's more to receiver than catching a football.. not fumbling, running the right route, not "tipping" balls... there's a lot of turnovers out there to be had, and playing a rookie excessively when he's not ready is asking for t r o u b l e .

The thing I like best about him is he always wants more yardage. he fights for every inch of ground. I feel pretty good about our WRs this year.

Austin...22.7 ypc
Hurd...19.2 ypc
Ogletree...19.0 ypc
Williams...17.1 ypc
Crayton...16.6 ypc

I love seeing production like that.

O, so do I....

I believe in the Jimmy J theory of get your play makers on the field and in position to make plays. Ogletree falls into this category.

Scouting and Coaching have to get some serious credit here for finding the talent and developing it. Austin is turning into a force, Crayton has been a very good player for us, Hurd has been steady in his role and Ogletree looks insanely promising. Incredible job.

I was going to post something similar. Thanks for doing the work ;)

I agree.

It seems that Romo is going to/wants to excel with "Romo-like" players. Meaning: Players like himself, "undrafted", "low draft picks" etc...

Its a GREAT thing!

EARLY on Otree reminds me of greg Jennings-also #85 on Green Bay: similar build/speed/hands: if he is 75% as good as Jennings is: we'll really have something and I think he will be....

He actually said something about Ogletree back during training camp in one of his media sessions when he was talking about the 'boys young receivers.
When I was there, Tony threw to Ogletree A LOT. It was hard not to notice him in training camp.

Hos, if you translate your 'yardage' into inches, it reminds me of Al Pacino in any given sunday.

"The inches we need are everywhere around us.

They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second.

On this team, we fight for that inch. On this team, we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch, because we know when we add up all those inches that’s gonna make the bleepin difference between winning and losing! Between livin' and dyin'!

I’ll tell you this: In any fight, it’s the guy who’s willing to die who’s gonna win that inch. And I know if I’m gonna have any life anymore, it’s because I’m still willin' to fight and die for that inch. Because that’s what livin' is! The six inches in front of your face!!

Now I can’t make you do it. You got to look at the guy next to you. Look into his eyes! Now I think you’re gonna see a guy who will go that inch with you. You're gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team because he knows, when it comes down to it, you’re gonna do the same for him!

That’s a team, gentleman!

And, either we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals.

That’s football guys.

That's all it is.

Now, what are you gonna do?"

That was the absolute best part of an otherwise below average movie. I did love that speech though.

I'm glad to see Tree getting a few more chances here. I'd like to see what the kid can do. It's nice to see us spread the ball around the way we do.
