we're still rolling because we have the best o-line in football, arguably the best rb in football, and several other solid receivers to complement and catch intermediate balls. dez is easily the best receiver on the team on his worst day. cole is awesome, and he's a great fit for a team that has a great o-line, hof te, and a qb that excels in underneath throws. cole has good hands and runs very solid (short) routes. again I love cole, I'm glad we have him and love the dimension he adds to the offense. he doesn't hold a candle to dez

Dez is 4th on the team in receiving and Beasley leads the team in practically every category and his longest play is only 6 yards shorter than Dez's longest play this season. If you took poll I bet most on the board would rather do without Dez than Beasley who's been clutch and a consistent chain mover. You're living in the past with Dez, his game hasn't been the same since the 2014 season, while Beasley has gotten better every year. Dez is 4th in receiving on the team, even Zeke has as many catches as Dez and some of our best games this season were when he was out. He's a talented receiver who's a head case and allows frustration to affect his game. He's still a "good" receiver but he's not the receiver he was.

You should never enter any conversation without some facts. I'm living in the "now" while you're living in the past and that's a fact!

In sad (but classic) fashion, KJJ brings up statistical team leaders but blatantly ignores the fact Dez missed three games.

No I just forgot we already had this argument and use different criteria. I don't have any interest in rehashing I will concede that Cole Beasley has more catches and yards than Dez this year, which seems to be your criteria. I was under the impression there was a bit more thought behind it. I apologize

Despite the 3 missed games he only caught 2 passes for 27 yards in two other games. He's had 2 one catch games this season in the 5 games he's played and only had one 1 catch game last season playing hurt and missing a number of games. In the 5 games he's played this season he's only led the team in receiving twice.

Dez will be fine. Dude pulled extra coverage all game as CLE schemed him all game, thus opening up routes and single coverage for Beas, and also drew LB and S to his side to open up the seam for Witt. He is effective more than one way.

Of course this requires a critical lense. Some here will never have said critical lense when evaluating our guys. It's all "derp derp one catch derp derp"

Bro, that sig 10/10

its always black and white when it comes to Dez.

The criteria is what have you done lately as in the last year and a half. Injuries factor into everything and while Dez has been battling them and not being consistent when he's been on the field it's resulted in the second straight season Beasley and Witten have been out producing him. Beasley has put up 9 TD's since last season compared to 5 for Dez. Even Butler is only 5 catches behind Dez this season. Be honest if the Cowboys had to go the rest of this season without either Beasley or Dez who would you pick?

Dez is part of a TEAM, a team that's 7-1 and on a 7 game win streak.

In a game where Witten had a ton of catches/yards, and our run game was humming (as usual), I wouldn't expect Dez to have crazy stats.

I actually LIKE the fact that we don't NEED the same one skill player to have a huge game each week in order for us to win.

We are the definition of a TEAM.

I'm being completely honest when I say that I would choose Dez. It's not nostalgia, it's I 100% believe he's a much better receiver than Beasley. I am a huge Cole fan. Been singing his praises to any of my friends who's listen and predicting a breakout season for him. I love him.

I'd take Dez 10/10. We got a taste of a team game planning to take Cole away exactly once and he was largely erased. Teams do that for Dez everytime he steps on the field

Do we beat Philly without the TD Dez caught? Does Beasley make that catch? I'd hate to have to choose between them but a healthy Dez brings something nobody else on the team does.

What you're not considering is that Dak has built some very good chemistry with Beasley, he trusts him. Dak and Dez haven't always been on the same page. Dak was asked about Dez a few games ago and said he's going to throw to the open receiver. Doesn't take much to read between the lines with that comment. Dak isn't going to force balls to Dez, that could lead to turnovers.

Our offense would take a major hit losing Beasley who's also our punt returner. We've proven we can win and play very solid football without Dez. I'm not saying I don't want him on the team but I would not choose him over Beasley who's been our best, most consistent receiver this season. Dak needs chain movers and Beasley is one of our best.

You're making an assumption. It's not that I'm not considering it, it's that it's been 8 games. They aren't a long time duo with years of chemistry, it's 8 games.

As far as the comment, that's not singling Dez out (imo) it's just his entire mentality, I'm sure if he was asked about Beasley his answer would be the same. Folks who already have their mind made up about the type of player/teammate that Dez is hear that and immediately infer what they want from it. Dak also said this about Dez

"Best receiver in the NFL in my eyes," Prescott said. "He's freakish. Just throw it near him. Just throw it within five yards of him, and he'll make the catch."

I doubt Dak will have much trouble building chemistry with a guy he views as the best receiver in the league. Not just the Cowboys btw but the league. I'll just assume he believes Cole is 2nd best lol

That was a big TD by Dez but do we beat Philly without Witten's TD in OT? Do we win without Dak picking up that 4th and one in OT? There's a number of plays we needed to put ourselves in a position to win that game. Dez was suppose to be healthy for the opener and his drop in the endzone helped cost us that game.

Dak and Beasley have taken to each other real well despite only playing 8 games together because Beasley gets open. You have to look at what Beasley has done this season and he's been our most valuable receiver. He sealed a win a few weeks ago with a big chain moving catch plus he's our punt returner. I'm looking at the games Dez was out and we played 3 very solid games without him. Naturally Dak is going to say Dez is the best receiver in the NFL but do you honestly think he believes that? lol What is he suppose to say? He doesn't target Dez as much as much as Beasley and Witten because he's not getting open. He had at least a couple of drops against Cleveland and things like that will keep Dak from looking his way.

In the 5 games he's played this season he's only led the team in receiving twice.

You have an uncanny penchant for parsing down statistics to the most dumbest base level.

So what that "he's only led the team in receiving twice" in the 5 games he's played?

Skip Bayless has been arguing for the team to trade Dez. He needs to find himself a new profession, like maybe burger flipping, sewer cleaning, or possibly door-to-door sales.

That facts are he's not getting it done on a consistent basis and if he was these Dez threads wouldn't keep popping up on the board with fans unhappy with his production. I don't start these threads. He's done little since the 2014 regular season only scoring 5 TD's. I'm just giving you the facts.
