According to Nick Eatman:
1. Cowboys really wanted Takk
2. Rumors were Falcons wanted to hop Dallas for a passrusher, which happened
3. Cowboys were probably aware but allowed it to happen. They settled for Taco because they did not want to give up the 3rd round pick that Atlanta gave up.

So we gave up the more explosive RDE because he had to draft more DBs.
This was because they were under pressure to draft a bunch of DBs because they were too cheap to resign at least Carr.
So for a couple Mil AAV, we had to settle for an inferior RDE candidate, even though we have cap space to spare.
More of the same bean counter at work...
Lets hope it is Spicy Taco and not Soft Taco...

We know the story by now for the Dallas Cowboys, they really wanted to take Takkarist McKinley. We know that to be a fact as reported by Nick Eatman, Takk was the pick at 28. However, often times, the draft throws a few curveballs. The day of the draft, rumors were swirling that the Atlanta Falcons wanted to trade up and hop Dallas for a pass rusher. They did just that by trading with Seahawks and snatching McKinley right at 26th overall.
Take a Viagra and your soft taco will be fine.

I don't get the Takk love. Kind of reminds me of Vernon Gholston.

Charlton has him beat on virtually every measurable and had he not been injured probably more productivity.

Besides Takk is a complete nut job.

Glad some people understand the emotions I was going through

Sounds like the guy just had strong emotions.
Sorry if he does not meet with your country club pedigree.

It's not what he said, it's how he acted. There are others who can get to the QB. You don't need fools in the lockeroom.

This defense could use a little edge. Not worried about it. He would have to put the picture of his grandmother down though. That's non-negotiable.

It's not on Eatman's twitter feed.

Here is Eatman on Thursday:

The Cowboys are pretty ecstatic about taking Taco Charlton with the 28th pick, even if many of the fans weren’t as impressed. Some of them probably wanted a cornerback, especially since someone such as Kevin King was still on the board – and remains there as they head into Friday’s second day of the draft.

But this didn’t seem like it was about Charlton vs. King. This was about the rest of the pass-rushers available against the cornerbacks.

i am not qualified to judge taco vs takko vs. burrito.
what matters to me is the team settled for the second choice over a 3rd round pick.
it is tough enough trying to draft a daddy, and they just made it tougher.
I don't think you realize how valuable a 3rd round pick is. Which is insane to me.

You don't understand the nuance between between platitudes and honest commentary.

They aren't going to throw Wilcox, Church, Carr, and Claiborne under the bus and say "well, we still struggled in the secondary, couldn't force turnovers, why bring back the same crap and get the same results."
Actually Stephen jones kind of did, Carr was pretty upset when SJ said in an interview they were willing to let everyone they let go leave if the price was too high. Didn't think they were worth it and could get comparable talent in this years draft due to it being so deep. Sucks hearing someone say that but they felt the Dbs didn't produce enough for the salaries they wanted.

Takk's arm length is longer
Yes, McKinley has great arm length for a guy his height. There's not much difference in his and Taco's arm length (1/2"), there is also not much difference in their 10-yard time (1.60 vs 1.63) despite Taco outweighing him by 27 pounds.

Taco had a much better 3-cone than McKinley (7.17 vs 7.48) which is bizarre considering the weight difference.

Try not to get confused by the success of 2016 to overvalue draft picks.
There you go - 3rd round pic expected value based on many years of statistics - the chance of getting a multiyear starter in the 3rd round is only 27% for a DL - big deal:
1st Round - OL (83%) LB (70%) TE (67%) DB (64%) QB (63%) WR (58%) RB (58%) DL (58%)
2nd Round - OL (70%) LB (55%) TE (50%) WR (49%) DB (46%) QB (27%) DL (26%) RB (25%)
3rd Round - OL (40%) TE (39%) LB (34%) DL (27%) WR (25%) DB (24%) QB (17%) RB (16%)
4th Round - DL (37%) TE (33%) OL (29%) LB (16%) WR(12%) DB (11%) RB (11%) QB (8%)
5th Round - TE (32%) DB (17%) WR (16%) OL (16%) DL (13%) RB (9%) LB (4%) QB (0%)
6th Round - TE (26%) OL (16%) DL (13%) WR (9%) DB (8%) RB (6%) LB (5%) QB (0%)
7th Round - DB (11%) OL (9%) QB (6%) WR (5%) DL (3%) LB (2%) RB (0%) TE (0%)
