I'd say Church is a heady vet who can sometimes compensate for his lack of foot speed but I'm not seeing him all over the field either. He hits well too but watching him try to corner a receiver to the sideline in a Cover 2/3? Remember that Beckam spec catch where he couldn't even get there to attempt a breakup (well I still think he should have him on the ground late but anyway)? That's more of the coverage speed, and lacking quick twitch athleticism to make up for bad angles, etc. that is not in his cards. Now come on now LM, no one here has claimed Wilcox is going to be an AP, just possibly a better SS in 2015 than Church...?

I dont. Wilcox is worse then Carr

We have a 50 million dollar corner. You, like to gripe about the 100 million dollar QB. Romo has given far more bang form the buck than Carr

i bang on him too. i was never for that contract from the beginning. i wasn't as down on jenkins as everybody else. that being said the majority of high draft picks and big money players (including dez) are on offense. they set the tone for the game. if they keep going 3 n out they we're screwed. it starts with them.

So... How about the report on the team adjusting their practice this week and going a really fast pace with 2 offensive units huddling and putting work on the defense at a faster pace then philly does. Thats an great thing by the team. Get them ready and practicing to get their adjustments earlier on defense and build some stamina before this weeks game.

I thought Mickey and broddius went at it pretty good yesterday. Mickey is such a mouth piece for organization is bit too much sometimes. He felt the t-day game came down to few plays (5-6) that didn't go Dallas way. Broddius felt Dallas got beat in trenches on both sides of like and Dallas was basically outplayed everywhere. Of course Broddius is correct.

Lol Mickey is hard to listen to. I blame the caller who stayed on the phone for like 5 mins doing a play by play.

And I would also add that Wilcox is not a FS as he cannot take true center on single high and get to the sideline. That is the bar. Church cannot get there out of cover 2 which he has shown time and again. Wilcox can at least do that. He starts on the strongside of the formation even if they move him around.

Church is not very good giving deep help. It is what it is.

agreed this teams problems at Safety are still paramount. I thought Broddius was right in basically calling out Wilcox who has played good amount for Dallas and really does not see field well but is great in run support.

Philly threw for only 215 that game. Philly won that game with the run. They isolated Hitchen and wilcox alot of them strech runs and both got gobbled up

I think it was more than just them, I saw a lot of cut backs as Dallas would over pursue bottom line Dallas has to control McCoy, if he gets it going then Sanchez is able to stay in situations he is able to manage.

We need to replicate our plan from our last game in Philly. We only allowed 3 points. We did the same thing Seattle did in regards to challenging receivers and maintaining the edges to stop McCoy. I'll take the 3 pts allowed vs 14 anyday.

They did that (2 offenses in practice) before the last Philly game but they didn't have a lot of time to do it.

I thought that was a terrific idea. In fact, they should have 1 practice a week doing just this, no matter who their opponent is. Philly may be the quickest, but they are not the only no huddle offense. And it would help in 2 minute situations.

This would be a good habit to get into, IMO.

Agree with bolded statements.

Church is a tough player with good leadership skills, however, his only problem is he is not very good in coverage (does not move well in the cover-2). Wilcox would be the SS if Dallas had a legit FS prospect.

So, you prefer an aging CB who's confidence is COMPLETELY shot and has been posterized all season over an athletic guy who has been playing his position for all of 3 years?

BTW, is it his fault that he's learning on the job in the NFL or the F.O.?

of course it was the trenches. fletcher cox is the highest rated dlineman in the league the last month. guys like vinny curry, bennie logan, barwin, marcus smith, kendricks, and trent cole are all doing a good job contributing to the pass rush.

i'm starting to think their defense has bad numbers b/c of the fast paced offense. when you look at their depth chart, they have some nice pieces.

Regarding the safeties we have now, I think they are both hurt by the fact that the other guy is not a true FS. I believe Church would be a much, much better player if we had a ball hawk safety who could play the single high position. Similarly, Wilcox would benefit from the same thing. The fact that both are on the field at the same time hurts them both.

Offense has carried this team all year. This is a 4-9 defense bailed out by a playoff caliber offense. Yes the offense will need to step up. They usually do. But the constant criticism of this well above average offense while we treat the defense like the 'special" member of the family is tiresome. Oh look they gave up only 460 yards of offense and 30points clap clap.

I don't see it as excusing the defense or criticizing the offense per se, its simply a matter of expectations based on where resources (draft picks and cap dollars) have been allocated. They're overwhelmingly tilted to the offense so I expect more from them. I wish the defense was better but its hard to expect much when so little has been invested in it.

Defense did not play well in first game. Yes the offense stunk but since when is it ok to give up 17 points on the other teams first 3 drives?

Too many excuses for this defense. The offense cannot bail them out every game.

33 points is unacceptable. If they can hold to 24 or less we should win. The offense will play well this game bank on it.

Agreed - the Eagles had receivers running wide open all game long, and the front seven got killed with cut backs on run downs. To the Cowboys credit, they played better in the red zone, but to say they played well enough is a complete falsehood.

i agree, it also increases overall practice reps and should help their fitness as well
