If the team moves on then it’s ok, but I for one am appreciative for a guy who has been a constant for a very long time for us!
He was 19th in the nfl in pressures last year
That’s might good considering that’s all positions
He also had more sacks and more tackles than Aaron Donald lol
Fans only think sacks matter
50 tackles for an edge player is pretty goid
6 sacks doesn’t really measure the impact he had

Been a cowboys player for years, at what point do we part ways with him. With the big deals that need to get signed, and the way Quinn can make something out of nothing with a DL guy, I can see him being gone eventually.

NOT THAT I WANT HIM GONE, but when you think of contracts coming up Diggs, Lamb, Micah down the road, can we afford to have him here also???

Please give your thoughts, bash me not the others on this post this is NOT meant to be a Lawrence hate thread, just asking a question!
Yes. He absolutely will be gone eventually

Been a rock out there for a long time. Often he was the best defender the Cowboys had. I think Jones and Son jerked him around a bit with two franchise tags and that silly pay cut offer last season. But he is nearing the end of a good Cowboy career. He has been a warrior and an overall asset to the team/organization. I do hope the team has a good playoff run very soon so he can have that experience. I am tired to seeing good players not getting that on this team. At this point all I can add is "Thanks Tank!!"

Tank is still a really good team first player. The guy is a really good strong side DE. He plays extremely hard, he wants to win and you can see it in his play. He plays with a mean streak and that something not many Cowboys players possess. Sacks are great but not the only stat to go by, my suggestion would be to look at explosive plays, instead of just sacks. It’s pretty much a guarantee that he will get an explosive play (Sack, TFL, FF, PBU) per game. That’s extremely hard to find, and those plays change the outcomes of games. He’s not a sack master, not many SDE’s are but he does a ton for this defense.

The only other true SDE the team currently has on the roster would be Gholston, and he doesn’t bring a whole lot to the table, not a bad rotational guy but he doesn’t scare anyone.

I don’t think Tanks salary isn’t out of proportion to his production. As long as he continues his level of play this season I’d not only expect him to finish out his contract but would welcome it.

....Tank probably has another 2, maybe 3 yrs. His career is summing up. Probably our best run stopper, next to Hanky.

I’ll be surprised if this isn’t his last year here. But I’m glad he’s back for this season. Hopefully Willams takes the next step this year which makes Tank expendable next year.
This is why I’m hoping Van Ness is there at 26. If not him then I’m hoping Sanders. He’s a TJ Watt clone, maybe better at same point in their careers.

quinn can "make something out of nothing" because guys like Tank are there already. He and Micah allow lesser guys to shine because of the work they're doing and attention they're receiving.
How I haven't seen it much

I don’t know what anyone else sees, but I thought he played well this past season.

He isn’t a sack guy and never really was. The fact that Jerry paid him like one is a different topic.

From what I have seen and the articles I’ve read, he’s incredibly well respected by the coaches and locker room. He works his tail off and is impactful. I want him in a Cowboys uniform.

That high sack year to get that big deal is why this thread is opened!!!

We all do but eventually the money will be the determining factor

I remember when Tank was first drafted, fans on CZ (including myself) was begging for production from him in his first 3/4 seasons, we finally saw that elite production during his contract year, got paid and reverted back to cruise control. Just my opinion but on the outside looking in, it seems like Parsons coming in, kind of lit a fire under Lawrence and he's stepped his game up to become a solid defender these days.

Lawrence isn't going to give you Top 3 production at his position in regards to Sacks/TFL but he's definitely not the weak link of the defense either. At this point it is what it is and come to grips to accept 5/6 sacks a season and make some splash plays during key moments in the game.

AD played 11 games, not 17 and he’s an interior rusher. Please don’t ever compare him to AD again.
