I wouldn't have paid him. Any player who holds off needed surgery as a contract negotiation is one I don't want on my team. That's frickin' sick.2 years ago.
It all depends on how good he plays. He’s a huge part of how well the defense plays. He doesn’t disappear and without him last year might not have won as many as we did.Been a cowboys player for years, at what point do we part ways with him. With the big deals that need to get signed, and the way Quinn can make something out of nothing with a DL guy, I can see him being gone eventually.
NOT THAT I WANT HIM GONE, but when you think of contracts coming up Diggs, Lamb, Micah down the road, can we afford to have him here also???
Please give your thoughts, bash me not the others on this post this is NOT meant to be a Lawrence hate thread, just asking a question!
Yep, but for a team who, as we know, pay their own and for a (certain section) of the fan base that deny there are CAP considerations ....paying Tank $17 and $20m in 2024 is just a casualty of our policy of restructuring.....thankfully he's still worth his starting status.Tank is a very good player and a welcome part of our D. However, he's a 10 mil/season type player, not 20. Think Tony Tolbert. Can't pay the sidekick Batman pay.
The entire D plays much better when he is there, so I'd conclude that he is a game changer. Just not a 1st order game changer.Hated his contract and still kind of do
Elite run defender, makes a couple splash plays a year, has the giants number and destroys them every game
Even though he's an elite run defender is he a game changer....meh I dunno about that
He did restructure, so his cap hits will be:Hated his contract and still kind of do

This is a steal for the player we get, actually. Other teams hate him. He's that good.Contract is guaranteed for 2023.
He signed a new 3-year contract in March 2022.
His original big contract ended up averaging 21M over 3 years (2019 thru 2021).
The new 3-year contract:
Average 15M if cut after the 2nd year.
Average 13.3M if cut after the 3rd year.
Sorry, I meant for the 1st word of this post to be Tank, rather than Dak, although both seem to fit the words to follow. My bad.Dak will be given leave whenever the Cowboys' powers that be decide his services are no longer needed. Up until now, he has proven himself as a deserving veteran DE and deservedly so. Not sure what the rush is to see him depart, when his services to the team are still considered valuable. I'm sure the time will come when his services don't measure up to what they are today. Until then, he'll be a Dallas Cowboy until he's not any longer, Is he being overpaid? Currently, it would seem so but that's what this FO isn't always good at determining. They fold under pressure at contract time.
I suspect they draft a guy to help keep Micah and Tank fresh.. That's my thinking. He was 19th in the nfl in pressures last year
That’s might good considering that’s all positions
He also had more sacks and more tackles than Aaron Donald lol
Fans only think sacks matter
50 tackles for an edge player is pretty goid
6 sacks doesn’t really measure the impact he had
Louder.........fans get so caught up on sacks. Tank has always been the type of player you evaluate his total game. He's one of the hardest-working players on the field. He was 19th in the nfl in pressures last year

That is not true. His salary next year isn’t guaranteed which is why some are speculating this could be his last year. Personally I think that unless his play drops off, he will likely be here for at least this year and next.after his contract is done. his contract is fully gauranteed. in fact the first player ever to get total of 7 years of guaranteed contracts...all of that for average of 6 sacks a year
His contract paid him as a top pass rusher given his 25 sacks combined in 2017 and 2018, prior to his big new contract. Since his new contract after the 2018 season, Lawrence has 20-1/2 sacks across 4 seasons.....and average of about 5 sacks/season....not top pass rushing numbers.Louder.........fans get so caught up on sacks.
