Ditto. His people have reportedly been trying to get something set up for awhile now. So, Tank himself *wants* to be here, which means Jerry will go in and talk him into a deal very beneficial to the Cowboys -- a relationship that will be beneficial monetarily to Tank if he comes in and performs and keeps his act clean, a la Terrell Owens.

Make it happen, Jerruh!

Tank Johnson said Monday night he expects to play for the Dallas Cowboys upon returning from his eight-game NFL suspension.

"I'm here to work some things out. I'm looking here for a fresh start," Johnson said when reached in his room at the hotel where the Cowboys stay before home games.

Earlier on Monday, a high-ranking team source said there have been lengthy discussions among members of the team's coaching staff and owner Jerry Jones about Johnson's off-field problems and his playing ability.

The Cowboys or any team would be able to sign Johnson during his suspension but he cannot work out or have contact with a team until he serves his suspension in its entirety.

Although Johnson has never played nose tackle, Phillips has extolled the flexibility of his 3-4 defensive scheme to accommodate players of different sizes and styles. The Cowboys lost starter Jason Ferguson for the season when the nose tackle suffered a torn right biceps tendon in Dallas' season-opening win against the Giants.

Johnson was waived by the Chicago Bears on June 25, three days after he was stopped by police in Arizona driving 40 mph in a 25-mph zone. Johnson was not charged with any crime. He was suspended by the league for violating probation on a gun charge that stemmed from a raid on his home. Johnson began serving a two-month jail term in March.

I've said that in EVERY thread about this guy. Heck, even some threads not about the guy.

However, he will have the opportunity to reduce the sentence to six games if he complies with Commissioner Goodell's guidelines of behavior, which include going to counseling.

Does this mean he has a chance to come back after 6 games? Even better. Have security at his door JJ and don't let him leave the room for the next 4 weeks without a chaperone.

Sorry dude, but at this level, it's not about right or wrong, it's about winning.

Do you remember his speech from Canton, how he was humbled to tell his sons that they should be better men than he was? He certainly is much wiser, more mature man now. My heart went out to him, because we all have shortcomings that we don't want our kids to grow up and live through.

While Michael's choices are his personal responsibility, he was enabled to postpone growing up because of his NFL talent. He was rewarded despite his serious flaws. The system should not reward that kind of talent. And in the Goodell era, the bar is being raised. So the era that Michael played in is going away.

Regardless, Tank should not be signed.

And why can't Tank do the same thing.....If Irvin can change so can Tank.....I think Irvin was a worst role model then Tank, Tank love Guns oh well, Irvin loved Cocaine and Hookers. one changed so can the other.....

I say sign him. Hopefully he's a changed man off the field, but brings a fire to the Defense on it.

Honestly i dont care about his life off he field! If he is signed he should just remember to carry the Dallas name, gracefully and with respect for honoring a second chance!

We have had our share of screw-ups on the team. Bu tell you what all screw up were productive, and thats what we need!

Tank is good! I say sign him with a freindly contract! If he knows what he wants, (To be part of the BEST NFL orginization, WOOT) he'll behave and be good!

SIGN HIM.... (PERIOD)

If Wade thinks it will work, and we structure the contract to release him if he misbehaves, then go for it. We will just have to listen to all the jokes about Cowboys being criminals, especially in the DC area....... You would think we were still back in the 90's.........
