I hope the one guy that takes the most out of this is Phillip Tanner: you have your chance to show what you can do...don't blow it!

so it was 1988 when you hit that point???

Naw a bit sooner. I can accept the fact that my views are just one of many views and sometimes my views are not correct.

heh - mine seldom are. i love talking football and so on, but i just don't see the undying need to make it a part of my life when i have enough things coming at me i *am* responsible for.

this is a release for me. not a source of hatred and aggrevation.

Does anyone truly believe we would have gotten anything for for Choice in a trade? I personally don't see it. We would have been lucky to get a 7th.

Not really. Only way I could link those together would be if Choice never made mistakes. So lets say Tanner or Murray make a mistake in the game could you honestly tell me Choice would not have made one?

I have nothing aginst Choice I hope he gets his chance and can make the most of it. I do think his days were numbered in Dallas if not this season before the start of next.

Spot on but you know how this place works.

Taking calls does not mean quality offers, it means a team/s called and asked what we wanted.

Fair enough, but why would a team call if they weren't willing to give up at least a 7th?

Don't talk about that yet - we aren't done rueing a theoretical phone call and trade offer that may or may not have occurred.

Just think, we could have parlayed that pick into a player that most folks on the board will want cut within the next two years.

Good riddance. I would have preferred to cut Buehler over Choice but whatever.

Choice's mental mistakes and lack of ball security sealed his own fate.

before murray did what he did. perhaps.

after it? not at all. for one the trade deadline was over and we simply didn't know what murray would do. we still don't to a degree but it appears we're willing to figure that out w/o choice around.

the same people all bent out of shape now would be just as mad if we traded choice w/o seeing murray in action and he had a "meh" game. they'd get mad for that.

but after murray the game they conveniently forget the timing of how it went so they can go straight to "anger point" and whine.

Why would you assume that? You couldn't be more wrong if it was your aim. Point blank, the day Barry Switzer was hired I said this team would begin a downward spiral that would take years to get out of. My worst day as a Cowboys fan in a lot of ways was winning Super Bowl XXX and seeing Barry yelling to Jerry that they did it their way baby.

If that's true then I stand corrected but I don't remember ever reading that over the years.

The hell you aren't. You freak out over everything. I don't see the attraction of it. The way I was raised men accept what they cannot change and they move on. It actually bothers me to see so many men seemingly incapable of it.

I don't freak out. Never. I'll state my opinion and then some foam finger waving fan will immediately have a panic attack. Then in the defense of my view, I'm accused of freaking out.

Say what you will about the negative crowd, they are much more tolerant of people's opinions than the homers are.

I still like the direction of this team. I still love the coaches. Still think the roster is close and maybe a year away from serious contention. But this particular move was bad and it stems from not having a legitimate General Manager.

I agree. I still do not get some fans who feel the need to pit team mates against each other. If they like Miles then they attack Dez. Felix is your guy well Murray is not all that. I grew up pulling for the Cowboys and that consisted of many different players. I loved Drew Pearson but also loved seeing Tony Hill and golden Richards I felt no need to rip on those guys to be able to support another

Is there a reason for this? I suspect the answer is no.

I've always said that you're a big boy and do a great job of defending yourself, just like you did in the above post.

It just don't feel right that another poster would defend someone else as passionately as casmith did.

I mean he almost did a better job of defending you than you did.

btw I agree with keeping Buehler, we're going to need him on kickoffs.

I don't see how anyone could assume that Choice had trade value. RBs are a dime a dozen. You can find RBs like Choice on just about any practice squad in the league.

Not true.

Choice has rushed for 1,139 yards on 250 carries. He scored eight touchdowns mainly as a backup.

The numbers don't look bad, over 4 yards per carry. Still, that is not all that makes a RB. If he carried it atleast 250 times, need to add in some catches and other times on the field (blocking, etc.). I'd say he was on the field plenty enough to prove his worth / "best".

Strange how a 1st year player gets on the field (Murray) and has no problem making a statement / standing out / showing his "best". He didn't need multiple years and tons of on-the-field opportunities to try and find his "best".

Choice is just lacking and his "best" never appeared. Best of luck to him.

All the standard homer responses from the manual.

How do you know? Where's the proof? You must know more than them. Send your resume to the league.

Flush. Wash. Rinse.

You have fun reserving judgement for those facts of trade offers that will never materialize with any concrete hard evidence since teams don't operate that way. I'll be on here in reality knowing Choice could have at least fetched a late round pick and that we definitely turned down a deal or two prior to this release.

This is why we haven't been very good in forever. Our lack of foresight and our inability to evaluate talent. It continues to kill this team today and it goes right back to one constant all these years.

I'm happy Choice isn't on this team anymore. But how we handled that move was yet another poor performance from the oil salesman.

And calling someone a homer isn't a standard response? Name-calling. Classy. Hope that made you feel better, although I doubt it.

As for your "reality", you go right ahead thinking what you want. As for explaining my position further so you might actually get it, not worth the effort.

Player swap? Conditional trade where the condition was so unlikely we preferred the benefit of keeping the player on the roster a few more weeks?
