I love the fact it's game 7 and we're still churning the roster.

I also find it encouraging that so many of our castoffs are playing for other teams around the league. Seems to me that it says something good about our scouting department, but I could be wrong since those teams got these players at different terms than the Cowboys had to pay. I'm still leaning toward the notion that this is a good thing.

Fair enough, but why would a team call if they weren't willing to give up at least a 7th?

1) They may have called to offer one of their deadbeat players in a straight up trade.

2) They may have called to offer two of their players and wanted Choice plus one of our future picks.

3) They may have made an offer for Choice if we threw in another player we did not want to trade.

4) They may have asked what we wanted, we said a 4th and they decided not even to offer anything after that.

5) They may have offered a decent player with a bad contract for Choice.

Those are a few reasons off the top of my head.

As others said, we did not know if Murray would play better, we had not seen Tanner in a real game, we did not know how long Jones was out, Choice did not have fumblitis yet, Carter was not ready to be activated and we were not sure how soon he would be yet and the list goes on.

All of those things made it difficult to take a future 7th rounder for Choice, imo. I've hated Choice as long as I can remember, even after the Steelers game. I would have loved to see him traded.

But I'm not so arrogant that I think I know better then the guys with all of the information about what should have been done. A future 7th that might be cut anyway was not a good deal under the circumstances I listed two paragraphs up, imo.

Player swap? Conditional trade where the condition was so unlikely we preferred the benefit of keeping the player on the roster a few more weeks?

So yore saying they DID offer SOMETHING? :laugh2:

Player swap wouldn't have made much sense, they don't happen that often either but even a conditional offer would be better than nothing.

If that's true then I stand corrected but I don't remember ever reading that over the years.
I'll tell you what, if you can find any post out of my 103,000+ where I have defended Barry Switzer's hiring you can kick me in the nuts as hard as you want, and I will film it and put it on youtube, and fight for the right for the .gif file to be allowed as your sig pic despite our rule of no animated sigs so that every person on this forum sees me getting kicked in the nads every time you post.

On Christmas day 1995, the Jerry McGuire game against the Cardinals, I stood right by the team bus with a sign that was a caricature of Barry Switzer with a big old brown nose and Jerry Jones. An artist friend of mine drew them for me. The sign said, "Once we had JJ and JJ, now we have JJ and BS."

Barry Switzer and Jerry Jones both saw that sign. As their cars drove away from the stadium I held it out for them to see. The dumbfounded look on Barry Switzer's face as he realized what it said is one of my happiest memories.

I'm saying we don't know, obviously. And that 'something' might well not have been better than 'nothing'. Without knowing what was offered, you can't reasonably complain. Not that that ever stops anybody.

I get what you're saying about the being Patriots able to get value in their trades, there's no disputing that, but you can't ignore the fact that Felix Jones' injury impacted their willingness to deal Choice.

If Jones were still healthy Choice would have been dealt, but at the time, aside from Choice, all we had was a bunch of inexperienced RBs who had shown nothing at the NFL level.

Once Murray had his big game I think they felt comfortable going forward during the "soft part of the schedule" with inexperienced RBs. Plus as I mentioned before, Choice didn't help himself. The guy has fumbled in consecutive weeks. Once in the red zone, IIRC. Plus he's had numerous mental errors.

Interesting move in cutting Choice....

We dont know what was offered....or even if anything was offered and it was simply a ploy by Jerry to get a bid on Choice.

All in all....no big loss imho.....last week game proved both Murray and Tanner can play in this league imho.

Choice mailed his own ticket....cant fumble like he has this year.

Anybody wanna guess where he ends up? (other than the unemployment line)

I'm gonna guess Seattle, Denver, Arizona and possibly Washington and Philly (we know Philly's wants something other than ronnie brown)

With respect to Choice, He has not been the same player since the fumble in the Redstink game last year at the end of the first half. I don't think THAT fumble was all his doing since we never should have thrown the ball there but after that, he seemed to just digress.

I wonder if it's something like what kickers go through when they miss a big kick and they lose their confidence. I don't know, since I was neither a kicker or a RB. But either way, he was just not the same player as before.
