I'll tell you what, if you can find any post out of my 103,000+ where I have defended Barry Switzer's hiring you can kick me in the nuts as hard as you want, and I will film it and put it on youtube, and fight for the right for the .gif file to be allowed as your sig pic despite our rule of no animated sigs so that every person on this forum sees me getting kicked in the nads every time you post.

On Christmas day 1995, the Jerry McGuire game against the Cardinals, I stood right by the team bus with a sign that was a caricature of Barry Switzer with a big old brown nose and Jerry Jones. An artist friend of mine drew them for me. The sign said, "Once we had JJ and JJ, now we have JJ and BS."

Barry Switzer and Jerry Jones both saw that sign. As their cars drove away from the stadium I held it out for them to see. The dumbfounded look on Barry Switzer's face as he realized what it said is one of my happiest memories.

Damn, its too bad you don't have pictures of this!

This is good news long term, he was bad for the team and it sends a meesage to the few remaining who need it.
I think he was one of just a few TO sympathizers left on the team. I wonder how close Felix is to coming back, but this sure sends a strong message. Work hard and produce or get out of the way.

Bailey actually has been pretty bad on kickoffs. His only game outside was New England and last week at home he was still bad. Sunday is in bad weather in Philly, a game that screams Buehler.

Has he done bad?

What's our opponents average starting field position on us with Bailey kicking off?

It's irritating not to get anything for him but odds are they would have only received a 5th or 6th rounder,,, and they might get a 6th or 7th as a compensatory pick anyway.

This has that Jimmy Johnson "don't think I won't cut you" feel to it and I likey.

I get what you're saying about the being Patriots able to get value in their trades, there's no disputing that, but you can't ignore the fact that Felix Jones' injury impacted their willingness to deal Choice.

If Jones were still healthy Choice would have been dealt, but at the time, aside from Choice, all we had was a bunch of inexperienced RBs who had shown nothing at the NFL level.

Once Murray had his big game I think they felt comfortable going forward during the "soft part of the schedule" with inexperienced RBs. Plus as I mentioned before, Choice didn't help himself. The guy has fumbled in consecutive weeks. Once in the red zone, IIRC. Plus he's had numerous mental errors.

This logic doesn't hold up.

My guess is that they really weren't offered anything for Choice.

I like the move. Don't perform, be gone. Its foolish to base any argument against cutting Choice on conjecture or what you thought may have happened, phantom trades included.

You're probably right.

It must be therapeutic to assume every news report has merit. I don't need therapy, so I don't know this.

Overcoming denial is the first step to recovery:D

In response to some posts in this thread, the Choice trade "rumors" weren't just media rumors. Jerry himself said he'd taken calls from teams regarding Choice.

Now maybe he was lying to drum up interest, but it wasn't just blog chatter.

I heard Alex report this and she did not say that anyone actually made an offer. Just that a couple of teams called to express interest.

Edit: Good point adbutcher! This cut does make a statement. And it could be that the last fumble (which was after the trade deadline) was the last straw with Garrett.

Great move. I supported tc early in his career but he really has flaked out and especially disliked him after the whole Vick signature thing

I do have some somewhere actually. The problem is, they are in storage right now because we are trying to buy a new house and house sitting for a friend while all of that has to get done.

Fair enough, but why would a team call if they weren't willing to give up at least a 7th?
This is just good common sense IMO. Teams don`t just call up and expect to get him for free. IMO this was just another blown opportunity to get something and end up with nothing.

Bennett should have been cut IMO. He doesn't perform either.

I didn't really want Choice around either but Murray still has a lot to prove. Sure last week was amazing but I want consistency.

What a tough decision.

While I agree Bennett is a disappointment, he can block some, so keeping him over Choice was necessary. At least Bennett can help us win a game, where Choice just helped us lose.

Hes not being used as a receiving TE, we need his blocking and he's done a great job of that. We already have enough receiver weapons with Miles, Dez, Robinson, and Witten.

and 2 weeks ago we had no idea how murray would perform on the field.
Nope they didn't, but watching Choice, Murray could not have done much worse. So it would have been a wash if he went out there and just got 50 yards and no fumble. That is about what Choice provided recently. But oh well, what is done is done.

and?

no one has any idea what, if anything, was offered for choice but damn it, jones should have traded him regardless of our #1 back being out and about a dozen runs from the other 2.

we can add/drop players all day long w/o concequence. when it's a billion $ business, you don't.

I'm saying we don't know, obviously. And that 'something' might well not have been better than 'nothing'. Without knowing what was offered, you can't reasonably complain. Not that that ever stops anybody.

Of course you can discuss it without knowing, what do any of us really know about what goes on during a game, much less behind the scenes? We're fans, not journalists.

If Jerry fielded calls, which he claimed he did, there's a good chance a team offered the standard bare minimum, a conditional late round pick. Thats all I'm saying.

I'll leave it to the rest of you guys to fight to the death over this thing. ;)

Ah, the old "unless you know the exact terms of the trades they weren't really offered" defense.

Outstanding.
How do you even know that the trade offer was for a pick? You sound moronic right now criticizing a non trade when you have no idea the terms? If you want to bash Jerry at least do it for something that makes sense. As someone else stated what if the proposed offer was for Choice and Ball for a conditional sixth or seventh?
