If you look at the play Damone Clark is clearly pointing at Skipper pre snap, because it was announced that he was eligible.

Decker is only wide open because he was not announced to us as eligible.

Yes, the refs royally screwed up the play, but to think Decker is left wide open if we know he's eligible is nonsense.

The play to Decker was not these guaranteed points the media is trying to make it out to be. It only looks that way because the refs screwed up and told us the wrong guy.
Great point, first I’ve seen all night about it. Lions just got caught trying to be too damn sneaky. It happens.

Too many fans spent the last 2 weeks claiming there was this vast conspiracy and we always get screwed by the refs. They're not going to be able to accept it. I'll wait until tomorrow when all the network rules experts have reviewed it, but I think we got away with one too. And it's only because Jerry decided to induct Jimmy in the ROH.

The curse is broken baby!!

:yourock::yourock::yourock:
No one has ever said we "always get screwed." Just that we get screwed more often than not. I don't know the rule to the letter but I do know that the ref announced one guy had reported and it wasn't #68. Case closed.

Didn’t this happen to us earlier this season against Philly?
Yes it did.. same deal.. We sent a lineman in and in our case Dak told the ref but we lost a TD because the player himself did not report.

Number #58 was in between them. May have added to the confusion.

As discussed post game, they may have gotten a little too clever. They had plenty of time and hoped to slide it on by.

The ref has to go to the defense and announce who is eligible. The point is for the defense to know who may or may not be able to be a receiver.

Without that, the dude is not eligible.

And it sounds like Campbell is blaming the ref for not remembering what he mentioned in passing 4 hours earlier.
Exactly you can't say hey we may run this play. Then report something different and then blame the Ref.

Their coach even admitted the flag was legit. two people cannot report. this really is not an issue so why are we the ones raising it, especially when they aren't?

Maybe it was a distraction. Send 3 lineman to the ref to try to confuse Dallas. Sounds like they confused the Ref.
Yep..You Got 3 OL Huddling Around The Ref,Hey I'm Eligible Or I'm Ineligible.I Think The Lions Is Partly The Blame Confusion To The Ref Here..Just Saying

It was announced over the microphone that #70 was eligible, you can hear it during this broadcast. The Lions should have been aware, they didn't have a TO, but could have audibled to another play when #70 and not #68 was ruled eligible.

I don't see it, maybe 6 inches, hard to tell based on the angle.
See what? It has nothing to do with the WR's standing up. It has to do with the lineman. 70 was listed as eligible, then covered by 68.

Eligible receivers can not be covered. They either lined up incorrectly or reported in wrong.

Not sure how a ref would confuse 70 from 68 or 58.

Decker, Goff & Campbell are adamant that 68 reported. Moreover, the refs had been told before the game that if a two point situation came up this exact situation with 68 reporting eligible with 70 entering the game would occur.

Can't blame Detroit for being pissed. Sounds like they did everything right (at least as far as reporting) only to get jobbed by the official. I haven't reviewed all the other aspects of formation, etc., so I'm not commenting on that.
Goff was 30 feet away and Campbell was 200 feet away.. Neither of them could have heard a damn thing 68 said to the refs..

I believe it was reported or at least attempted to be reported. However, I think they were trying to report 2 lineman to be eligible and the ref only heard one or got the numbers wrong.

Obviously some kind of miscommunication transpired.
