If you look at the play Damone Clark is clearly pointing at Skipper pre snap, because it was announced that he was eligible.

Decker is only wide open because he was not announced to us as eligible.

Yes, the refs royally screwed up the play, but to think Decker is left wide open if we know he's eligible is nonsense.

The play to Decker was not these guaranteed points the media is trying to make it out to be. It only looks that way because the refs screwed up and told us the wrong guy.

Its amazing how many of you guys dont know what being covered means for eligible receivers. He was not covered up. #8 is off the line and #68 is the last player on the line on the left side. I dont know if he reported or not, but it was not an illegal formation.
Anyone with a brain knows this

Seems like when we play the Lions it’s always something, just like the PO game with Romo, which they cried about.

The receiver was off the line
Barely, too close to call. Even the guest ref in the booth said it, he said there were several infractions. The RB who was out there and then motioned into tbe backfield was in a true Flanker position. Reynolds was in no-mans land, seemingly at the LOS.

Doesn't matter, but go back and watch the announcers after the game, they said it too, "There were 3 infractions, Decker was covered."

Now that most the facts are out, this was an absolute screwjob from the refs.

Decker reported and the official just got it wrong. It would have been a legal formation and play if they got it right.

Whatever refs screwed this up should not be allowed to ref another game this year, or maybe ever. Their blatant incompetence pretty much cost Detroit the game, a game with seeding implications for both teams.

What does this even mean? What position exactly is end?
This explanation makes absolutely no sense. There is no rule saying the center must be between two guards and two tackles. There needs to be 5 ineligible players on the LOS and they must be covered by no more than 2 eligible players.

68 was on the end of the left side. If he reported this is a legal formation. 70 was on the other side. If he was eligible, he was covered which would be illegal formation. If he was not eligible than he was okay they way he lined up.

But it is easy to see what happened on this play. 70 runs out o the field when 58 and 68 are talking to the refs. The ref assumed the guy coming off the bench would be the eligible receiver. There was no reason for 58 and 70 to go to the refs unless they were reporting.

Dan Campbell said he explained the entire play to the refs before he game and told them the Lions were likely to run it at some point. But that does not negate the requirement for the eligible player to report. I assume what Campbell explained is that 3 tackles would approach the refs but only 1 would report.

This is a deception. The league should change the rule so that only the player reporting will approach the refs. Decker said he told the ref "report". Sounds like he should have been more clear.

And as I have been saying, the refs have to report eligible receivers wearing ineligible numbers to the opposing team. If the refs told the defense 70 is eligible, then that's how they should call the next play.

70 was covered by 68. It has nothing to do with a WR or Split End.

70 reported or at least was announced as eligible. They can argue about the misunderstanding all they want to. 70 was covered by 68. Which is an illegal formation.

You can not cover an eligible receiver.

He reported in. The Lions won that game. What if that happened to Dallas when the season mattered? They should award the game to the Lions and fire that ref. It’s really not about the officiating, nobody cares if you blew the whistle or missed a call, replay it and get it right.
Not according to Kurt Warner
He said it’s a penalty cause of how they were lined up. How many games have the cowboys got screwed. We don’t get to win those games. They had two other chances and blew it. They lost cowboys won, not ever will give up a win.

Decker is not left wide open if he was reported as the eligible guy to us.

Rewatch the play. You can see Damone Clark point at #70 pre snap (The guy that was reported eligible instead of Decker). Obviously Clark was letting everyone know to not forget that #70 is eligible.

Don't let the media fool you into thinking this was a money play that Decker was always going to be wide open on. The ONLY reason Decker was wide open is because the refs didn't report him as eligible therefore we paid him no attention.

But you also have to figure by getting it wrong, the Cowboys were at a disadvantage and didn’t cover #68.
