And P.S. - I don’t really care whether he reported or not. We’ve been jobbed so many times by the refs that it’s fine with me.
But it does matter. Because every time people accept bull crap like this because it benefits their team it just means the league (ie, the refs) can do whatever they want, whenever they want. Like the Dez catch, the too many men in the huddle, long snapper wiggling the ball, etc.

Both teams deserve a fairly called game. Ref's that are literally running away from the guys who are trying to report in and botching it is just a horrible ref. Fans should demand accountability not just laugh because it was the other team this time.

It was no break. 68 was an ineligible receiver. If you look at the video, there is another receiver to his left. Therefore, only the receiver to his left can be eligible.
I agree. I was just watching ESPN and Mooch was asked about the illegal formation and he was making the point that the call was illegal touching and not illegal formation and you got to go with what is called. He’s kind of dying on that hill. What I hope is the NFL officials say they would have called illegal formation regardless. I feel it was an illegal play no matter what but I’d like the officials to announce that so the talking heads can shut up.

ESPN is taking this Cowboys victory kind of hard, lol.

I’ve been to countless NFL games, the Referee announces it on his microphone when a player reports eligible, did that happen?
SVP segment made it appear that Dallas was told but no announcement was made.

you don't know what he said, and there are 3 linemen in his face. can they all be reporting eligible? also it was illegal formation.
It’s silly to imagine that he was doing anything other than reporting. The penalty had to be something else.

Even if 68 reported, which the refs claim he didn’t and they certainly didn’t announce he did (which is required), If 70 reported, that is an ineligible formation.

Here the rule:
Eligible receivers must be on both ends of the line, and all of the players on the line between them must be ineligible receivers

70 says he reported, and if so, he was an eligible receiver lined up an ineligible spot.
70 says he didn't report. But my question is why did 3 Lions walk over to the refs? Clearly they were trying to hide who was eligible from the Cowboys. But the refs have to alert the Cowboys to an eligible receiver wearing an ineligible number. They used to announce eligible receivers coming into the game with ineligible numbers. They should start doing it again

They tried to get cute and it cost them. Tough luck.
My take also. 70 was announced as eligible I believe. They said that on the broadcast anyway someone who was there can tell me if that's wrong. But even if they didn't there is something wrong with the formation.

Also isn't illegal touching essentially treated like an incomplete pass and you don't get a 2nd chance at a 2 point play?

I am sure there will be a new rule after this incident. For once it is not a new rule after we get screwed over.
