Team should not pick up Byron Jones option

I'm watching the same game you are. I just have an appreciation for defenders that are sound tacklers. It's blaringly obvious to anyone who watches our games that this guy is scared of contact.

Really?

Could have fooled me when you watch him tackling running backs inside the 3-yards of the line of LoS because his SS and linebackers can't.

@Yakuza Rich how can you continually defend this? How can you defend this brand of football? Do you think they would allow this in Pittsburgh? lol

I’ve watched him defend this cat week in and week out basically calling anyone and everyone who doesn’t see his greatness fools. We don’t know good safety play? I’m stumped Z... I guess those 2 great Ints have him blinded. I dunno,

Jourdan Lewis once again was pretty solid..

Lewis was awful. The whole lot of them were today. Lewis, Brown (who I usually defend) and Scandrick. Putrid. Missed assignments, terrible eye discipline, horrible tackling, etc.

He's been getting knucklehead late penalties, misses tackles, horrible angles, can't play in space. Probably the worst traits to have as a free safety. He could get by as a strong safety.
He isn't a good tackler to be a SS.

If this team picks up his 5th yr option, I will be done with this franchise. I haven't missed a game in 18 years, I haven't missed a preseason game in 15 years. I grew up in the shadows of Texas Stadium. If they continue to invest in his scrub, I will be done. Simple as that. I can't support soft football.

Every week someone claims he is terrible but when I review all of his snaps, it's never true.

People decide they don't like a player and then use a play or two per game to reinforce the opinion they formed months or years ago.

Laugh at yourself.

Heath and whomever else missed the tackle. And where was Byron on this play?

This is why I'm so incredulous.

How Byron gets blamed on a play that he had no responsibility for and then expecting him to run down a WR with a 5-yard running start and say 'he's bad in space' and 'he's afraid of contact' is something where I have to question your football knowledge.

And why Heath was covering Allen on 3rd and 6 is beyond me.

Yet Byron was good?

I didn't have a problem with his play today. He gave up the TD pass to Henry, but it was a short one and there wasn't much pressure. He gave up another pass, but I am not certain he gave up that pass as it looked like a blown coverage by the linebacker because the LB's were missing assignments as well.

How can you watch the video with a straight face and not admit that Byron is afraid of contact? Scandrick who was burned on the play tried to make a tackle. Heath who took a bad angle as he normally does tried to make a tackle. Byron didnt even try! Most of us can live with a guy making a mistake if he does it going 100 mph, this ***** didnt even put forth effort

He's like deion Sanders but without the coverage skills or dances.

He gets blame b/c of his lack of effort.

Here's your guy, your vet, your leader on the backend slowing up a yard away from Allen instead of finishing the tackle. This happens once or twice a game with him where his piss poor tackling gets exposed.
