Nice deflection.
It’s a team sport and you can’t put the entire blame on the QB. What’s been going on throughout his entire tenure as the starting QB has been going on since Troy Aikman‘s final few years.

That would be an even swap. Except Minshew would be a whole lot cheaper.
If you honestly believe that, you’re a waste of my time. All some of you want is a cheaper QB regardless if they’re average.

Gardner Minshew may be our QB in 2025. Brace yourselves for that. The fans will be flocking to Oxnard next summer for training camp to watch a QB battle between Minshew, Cooper Rush, Trey Lance and a draft pick we had to reach for with our first pick. Lol :flagwave:
I, for one, am ready for however it plays out. A lot of the posters here are too emotional about this whole situation. I do understand why you guys are like that, you care too much. I am way past that. It is entertainment, nothing more.

Were you following the Cowboys in the mid to late 80s when they were struggling at QB? Or how about in the early 2000s when they didn’t have a QB after releasing Troy Aikman? Go look at their record during those years. This is why I don’t want to move on from Dak. We haven’t prepared ourselves for life without him. I don’t want go back to those days where we had a QB carousel and were missing the playoffs every season. I enjoy watching fun seasons where the team is competitive and has a chance. It’s no fun watching the team lose consistently and the only thing to look forward to is a high draft pick. It SUCKS when you have a lousy QB situation. The fans that think we currently do are being ridiculous.

So who are rooting for Dak to be great so he stays here depending production with playoff wins.
Or who is rooting for him to be horrible so one of those teams will pay him what he wants.

:muttley::popcorn:
A mod trolling for more Dak arguments.

Interesting.

Didn't say I wanted him! He doesn't solve the problem but he doesn't make it worse.

He’s a far lesser QB than Dak, which means he will make it worse. The guy has a losing QB record. He’s 7 games below 500. How is he not going to make our situation worse? Since Troy Aikman was released at the end of the 2000 season, the Cowboys have a losing record with veteran castoff QBs.

Battle tested is being reliable and effective. Dak has been reliable and effective, which is why he’s been a starting QB in the league going on 9 seasons and will be the most sought after free agent since Deion Sanders if he becomes available, but the playoffs have been a problem for him and the team. Dak hasn’t been a total failure at the playoff test because he has two playoff wins, and one of those wins was on the road against Tom Brady. The only ones who call Dak a loser are the haters. The lack of playoff success we’ve been seeing with the Cowboys has been going on since Troy Aikman‘s last few years and the fanbase become extremely frustrated.
If the best you can say about him in the playoffs is "he hasn't been a total failure" that says it all.

No, he won't. Think about it and ask yourself just why anyone would break the bank for Dak when even Tom Brady couldn't get a deal anywhere close to what Dak wants when he signed with Tampa.
Well Brady took a lesser deal to attempt to win a Super Bowl, something Dak would never do. But to answer your question I feel Dak would be heavily sought after due to marketing and the position he plays. Jerry did a good job, and still does a good job, marketing his team. The players on the team get far more attention than they deserve. This non stop media attention causes their reputations to be better than their play. For that reason I feel he would be sought out.

In short, when an average QB is marketed as a great QB in a QB starved league then he’ll get paid. IMO.

That was the best you could say about Romo. If Dak moves on we’re going to end up with a QB in 2025 that’s never been to the playoffs. If we end up with a castoff, you can almost bet they’ve been a failure their entire career during the regular season. Go check out our record the past 20+ years with castoff veteran QBs.

Better than what?

What they were before, or better than when they came back?

If the former, that's a pretty high bar in Watson's case. If it's the latter, then I disagree completely.

Better than how he has been playing the last couple of seasons when he was in the game and been bad overall.

The big question is will he get back to that 2020 form. None of us know for sure. It’s been 3 seasons now.

He very well could. But not playing and being injured doesn’t help him get there I don’t think. It’s a valid question on if he will ever get back to that point.

I assume you are randomly bringing Romo into this because you realize you have painted yourself into a corner.

I randomly brought up Romo because we’re going through the same problem in the playoffs under Dak that we did with Romo. Romo was called a choker and you have fans calling Dak a choker. Fans didn’t want to re-sign Romo at the end of the 2012 season. We’re going through the same thing all over again with Dak.

You do realize Dak can't play forever, right? Not only that, as he continues to age his play is going to spiral down the drain, and in fact he's already lost a lot of mobility due to injury from 2020. Eventually the team will have to move on, so there's no point being scared about the unknowns and life without Dak. The Cowboys franchise won't get sucked into a giant black hole just because Dak left the team.

Let's say you have a crappy car that's on its last leg. You have had this car for 10 years and have grown loyal, but you know the end is near. For some reason you stick with this car because you are afraid that the next car won't last 10 years like the last one and one day you end up broke down on the side of the road. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Don't be afraid of life without Dak. You will survive.

No QB can’t play forever but he’s only 31. He’s got several good years left in him. Eventually, the team will have to move on, but they need to better prepare themselves for life after him. You’re analogy of the car doesn’t fit with Dak’s situation. lol He’s not on his last legs and the end is not near. Life without Dak could mean life with Cooper Rush, Trey Lance, Gardner Minshew, Jacoby Brissett, Taylor Heinicke or Bailey Zappe, just the name a few. We won’t survive with that.

So you only care about the regular season. Got it. Nothing wrong with that, but don't complain about those of us who have higher standards.
Cooper Rush was 5-1, remember…. At that pace he would have made 12 wins easily with the sane squad, while having a noodle arm and being a back-up

The Giants gave up 85 sacks last year. Anybody thinking Dak, with his garbage pocket presence, would “carry” the Giants to greatness should just pack it up and stop watching football. I’m not even sure if they shored up their OL. People acting like Dak played behind a bad line, it’s laughable.

There is not a chance in hell Dak would go to NY in those same circumstances with their media and fan base.

Wouldn’t be strange if Dak went to giants. But Dak will be signed likely this week.
