This.

Love the guy, but he's not an NFL QB. He should go to Cananda to be honest.

Just trying to understand, why is it so hard for him when he is willing to put the hours to learn the QB system? What is wrong with him?

I am trying to understnad the issue with him, I have no opinion of him one way or the other - so not stirring up anything here

Rex Ryan statement: 'We have a great deal of respect for Tim Tebow. Things did not work out the way we all had hoped.'

Rex Ryan: 'Tim is an extremely hard worker, evident by the shape he came back in this offseason. We wish him the best moving forward.'

Ian Rapoport ‏@RapSheet 23m
Kind words by Rex Ryan on Tebow. Actions speak louder. Jets hurt his chances of catching on by releasing him post-free agency, post-draft

As per Tebow's contract w/Denver, there was a salary advance guarantee of $5.06M; the way 1st round deals structured in prior CBA.

As per trade negotiations, Jets agreed to pay half of advance-$2.53M-to Broncos over 2012/2013. Paid $1M last yr, still owe $1.53M.

Thus, though Tebow is gone, Jets will pay Broncos -- as per 2012 trade -- $1.53M in weekly installments through the 2013 season.

Cap hit for Jets on Tebow will be the $1.531 million they are paying to the Broncos as per the terms of the trade last year.

Tebow has played three years, thus not vested, thus will go through waivers. Has two years remaining on 5-year rookie deal.

1) I understand that Tebow is not an NFL caliber QB but if they released him before Free Agency and he was willing to switch positions

2) maybe he'd be on someone's roster! Well the CFL starts camp next month so maybe go prove yourself there.

Tebow will hit the waiver wire at 4 p.m. today. I'm sure if "the waiver wire" were a place, we'd have a reporter, crew and live truck there.

Hard work and dedication can only carry you so far, somewhere along the line you need to have some talent. He just doesn't have NFL throwing capabilities.
Just just my thought. Maybe if he is willing to become a fullback or TE or another position the hard work and dedication is more forgiving.

Because he is trying to overcome years and years(formative years at that) of poor mechanics and playing in simplistic offensive schemes that don't require much in terms of pre-snap reads or multiple reads.

He did better than our current backup quarterback with the same team.

Not saying I want him or anything, but 25 isn't young??

I mean all of our QBs are 30 and over, and I was disappointed we haven't picked up a developmental guy yet. Is Tebow better than some UDFA to help out for camp....probably.

NOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The issue with him is two things.

1.) He brings a circus

2.) He sucks

His talent is not evenly remotely good enough to deal with the headache he brings. He will never develop into a good quarterback.

Pretty sure they were referring to the " NFL QB" part, and not the "young" part

That is an overly simplistic view. The team wasn't really the same. It changed because the scheme had to be changed to fit Tebow's skill set. Also, some of the youngsters on that defense took a few weeks to find their groove and start playing well. And how are we determining better? The team record was better, but Orton had a better completion percentage, a better TD percentage and a better passer rating. Again, just saying Tebow did better than Orton is an overly simplistic view of what happened.

The only reason not to have Tebow on the team is to avoid the media circus that follows him. He is a good quarterback but needs instruction on his throwing motion, just as Tony Romo did.

I wouldn't want him here as a QB but would love to have his work ethic rub off on our team.
I'm not saying Tebow isn't a hard worker but if Romo had half of Tebow's schedule for non-football activities, this forum would go nuclear. :laugh2:

Except he was worse than Romo, much much worse.

I really don't think the guy even needs football anymore. I'd guess he can very easily just tour the country and speak and make much more than football would give him. I would imagine he could get a religious TV show pretty easily too.

He now has the opportunity to come back to reality and realize that he is not an NFL QB. However, he can be an NFL player if he is willing to shed the QB role. I think he could have a hybrid type role with a team where he could run the read option some, maybe be involved in goaline packages, and be a guy they try and get the ball to in space on toss plays and screen passes. If he's not willing to take that kind of role, it's probably Canada for him.

We've got a few TEs on our roster. Don't really need another.
