Terrance Steele Trade?

Steele is not a poor player. Neither is Dak. But the mob mentality blames our woes on those two players. Dak was second in MVP voting last year and people say he cant play. I gotta believe that having Adams coaching the OL is going to make Steele the player he was two years ago. And if you get Jeanty or a capable back, we finally have a running game and that, in itself, opens up the offense.
You’re right. If this forum managed the roster Dak, CeeDee, and Micah would show up for training camp with 8 or 9 guys no one ever heard of. It would be like “where the hell is everybody”?

at the least, a conditional pick would be more warranted. A late round that would grow into a conditional 4th round based off Steele's performance, games started or played, etc.

- But to consider moving to trade or casualty cut Steele, we'd have to address his replacement. Is that Guyton to RT?
Or would we have to draft an immediate starter at RT early ?

- Asim Richards has to show he can stay healthy, but he displayed enuff to give hope as a capable backup - but not starter.

- Frankly after a seemingly strong finish at season's end by Steele., i'm doubting the club is that down on Steele to move him elsewhere.
I didn't like the guyton pick and been on record saying it. It showed in his play.

Yes I would move Guyton to RT his natural spot. Then draft a LT with the 12th (if they warrant such a pick). Think of Tyron Smith type LT for next 10 years. Post Dak as well. Now we have a legit OL good for next 8 to 10 years. And it's philosophy of building inside out

I don't buy into Steele play at end of season against bottom of the barrel type defenses

If they can get a 4th round pick, take it. Bengals may do this trade, they need OL.
They been drafting OL though, and had a few injured last season.
However, they may pick another 1st rounder this year as well.

Trade Steele, even for. 5th or 6th, get rid of the contract, pick Josh Simmons from Ohio State in the 1st round. Maybe a slight trade down. If he doesn't move up the board.
CBS has him at 17 right now.

Simmons playedLT, so Guyton can move to RT, Smith at LG. Martin may retire, or I seen rumored he may sign with Bengals. They have some options who to plug in at RG.
THIS

Mazi Smith sucks...and is a #4 DT on any team at best.

Let's trade him for a first rounder!!!!!!!

OR TWO 1ST ROUNDERS!!!!!

problem solved
I nominate you for GM if you can find someone stupid enough to give us that you will be compensated appropriately

Any team offers a 4th for Steele the Cowboys should take it in a NY minute.
Not saying you are wrong but there are a few things that should play into any discussion (no, i haven't looked at all the financial implications)

  1. Oline play around the league is BAD. Very, very few teams have a legit starting 5. Teams that want to get better quickly will prioritize the OL.
  2. Whatever we are paying him isn't out of line with a starting caliber T
  3. However anyone views his flaws, he is still a starting caliber player. Especially for a team that wants to be more balanced with the run. Elite? No. Upgrade for a lot of teams? Yeah
Given our young guys, if we could move him it might be best for both sides. So, I'm not against trading him, but I would not give him away.

He hasn't lived up to his contract. I doubt another team would trade for him on that deal.

Good post. I know Steele isnt a great player, but despite what we think of him he is good enough to start for multiple teams in this league, and to be honest probably would get a raise if he were a free agent this year. People might not want to believe it, but it can get a lot worse than Steele at RT.

Just because he is starting doesn't make him a starting caliber player. It means there is no one behind him the staff feels like can take over without a drop in play or they are too scared to make a change.

Look around the league at what some teams put out there at Tackle this year. Steele would probably start for close to 10 teams right now. Far from a great player, but the state of Tackle play in the NFL isnt very good.

If it were Steele pre-injury we could probably pull a 2nd. As is, bad game film and contract, we'd be lucky to get a late round pick. Maybe he turns it around. He didn't look awful late this year. New OL coach, another year removed from the injury. Who knows what will happen?

Jazz your an osu guy what the prognosis on the Simmons injury he suffered against Oregon

Trade him to Chicago. Caleb needs more O lineman and they have a ton of cap space.

I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?
Don’t think four is realistic unless we send a six or a 7th back with it but hoping new coaching hires can coach him up
He has never been the same player since he hurt his knee
I do believe we have something in Richards or Guyton might be better served with n the right side where he played in college
Hoping they sign an upgrade in free agency or get lucky in the draft

I see the OL as a mess. I don’t love Tyler Smith at LG and I think Beebe’s best position is OG. Zach Martin is on his way out and we’re questioning Steele. So basically every spot is open except for LT, but Beebe can play C/OG.

Another way to look at it is we’re all set on the OL but Dallas could use a C/OG who could allow Beebe to move to OG or fill in for Martin/ outplay Smith. That leaves Steele where he is. So I say there are too many other needs, keep Steel for now.
