At best someone gives them a 6 or 7. That contract is ridiculous and he has been terrible the last 2 years. Not the same since the injury.I don't think they'd get a 4 for him, but I would gladly take that for him. I am interested to see if Adams can coach him up and get him back on track. He seemed to be able to get the most out of some JAG players in AZ. Felt like Steele regressed with Solari these past 2 years.
Certainly his post injury play isn't as good but yeah he could start in the NFL even when supply of RT's are pretty good. But that's my main point. Supply & demand. College isn't producing as many guys who can step right in & play anywhere along the Oline right now. Teams looking to shore up a position quickly will be willing to pony up more compensation than in the past.Just because he is starting doesn't make him a starting caliber player. It means there is no one behind him the staff feels like can take over without a drop in play or they are too scared to make a change.
Need RB1 In this draft.I didn't like the guyton pick and been on record saying it. It showed in his play.
Yes I would move Guyton to RT his natural spot. Then draft a LT with the 12th (if they warrant such a pick). Think of Tyron Smith type LT for next 10 years. Post Dak as well. Now we have a legit OL good for next 8 to 10 years. And it's philosophy of building inside out
I don't buy into Steele play at end of season against bottom of the barrel type defenses
Truth. No one is trading for him
It doesn’t make $$$ to trade him. No team will want that contract.Trade him to Chicago. Caleb needs more O lineman and they have a ton of cap space.
2 pro bowls in a row and All-Pro in '23 sound like a good start to his career at that position.I don’t love Tyler Smith at LG
You’d be lucky to get a 7th for him. He has an albatross contract.I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?
The Cowboys could restructure his deal making him a cheaper cap option for another team. but that would mean they pick up the restructure against their CAP in the future. Still, It might give him a higher trade value for a team looking for a RT.Well said. It’s much easier to get more trade value during the season than now. A team desperate for help in the regular season is much more likely to “overpay” to acquire someone. This time of year it’s much harder to get big trade value because of free agency. Teams can sign someone without giving up a draft pick.
Plus we fans usually over-value our own players. Almost as much as our front office, lol.
Your point about Steele’s contract is the other problem for a trade. Why would a team trade for a guy with a fairly hefty payday next year? This is why if we want some cap relief and move on from Steele cutting him as a June 1 is better. And…a June 1 cut is announced way before June 1 allowing teams to still negotiate with FAs with the cap savings before they officially take effect. Not that our FO will do that….
Yup.You’d be lucky to get a 7th for him. He has an albatross contract.
I think this is a deep RB class and we can get a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round and platoon with Dowdle if they resign him. if we don't fix the LT problem and the OL problem, even Henry wouldn't have same level of success he did in Baltimore. I know people will immediately point to Barkley and Philly, but KC is there and who is their RB? Bills made it over Ravens to the championship game and Washington's RB is not a big name. but IMO guyton has a long learning curve and may never end up a top level LT, and steele is done. he is going to continue to suck to the end of his contract.Need RB1 In this draft.
Why take the chance? Just draft RB1 in the 1st.I think this is a deep RB class and we can get a RB in the 2nd or 3rd round and platoon with Dowdle if they resign him. if we don't fix the LT problem and the OL problem, even Henry wouldn't have same level of success he did in Baltimore. with that said, there is a huge difference between what Jerry will do and what he needs to do. Steele will remain until end of his contract, because jerry will not let him go, he hates letting players go early no matter what. rarely rarely rarely does he do that (Gallup, but because he was injured than anything else).
Agree. Remember when Parcells over thought the Stepen Jackson pick??? How did that work out?? If Jeanty is there, You take him.Why take the chance? Just draft RB1 in the 1st.
why take a chance at LT? and RT? fix the OL. imagine we end up with a LT like Tyrson Smith, even if slightly less (as he is a HOFer). then Guyton moves to the right side, his natural position he played in college and we get rid of the big liability called Steele. now you have an OL that anyone can run behind. and can protect the QB, even after Dak is gone. RBs are easier to find and they get to productivity very quickly and they are only worth one contract (most often than not). we spent a premium pick on Zeke, who was a much better prospect than Jeanty when they both coming out of college. how did that turn out? Barkley was a failure in NY and only revived his career in Philly, behind probably the best or at least a top 3 OL in the league. we need to build inside out.Why take the chance? Just draft RB1 in the 1st.
Ya he never was a great pass blocker his strength was run blocking and now that isn’t the same since injuryAt best someone gives them a 6 or 7. That contract is ridiculous and he has been terrible the last 2 years. Not the same since the injury.
No moves until you have a firm plan or an inkling of a plan to replace and cover yourself if plan A goes wrong. I don't disagree with the need to think beyond Steele and find better solutions, but be deliberate and intentional about it.The issue I have with moving on from Steele is it opens up another hole.
I hate his hand usage. It boggles me how he lets defenders into his body and at other times he completely whiffs. At best someone gives them a 6 or 7. That contract is ridiculous and he has been terrible the last 2 years. Not the same since the injury.
what would you give up for another team to take him?I know that people are down on Terrance Steele. They want the Cowboys to cut him and save the cap space. Would they be able to trade him for that fourth round pick we are missing? That would solve two problems. What say you?
His contract is too expensive. Who would trade for him?I don't think they'd get a 4 for him, but I would gladly take that for him. I am interested to see if Adams can coach him up and get him back on track. He seemed to be able to get the most out of some JAG players in AZ.
