The vast majority of third rd receivers never become true number one's. If you can get a very good second option in the third rd you have made a good pick.

Couldn't agree more. And the number two receiver in Dallas (assuming Williams eventually succeeds Austin) will actually be the third option downfield after Dez and Witten. Let's not throw this kid under the bus four quarters into his career.

If he had no potential i doubt he would be on the team. There has to be a reason he is getting the playing time and not DH.His first game and a Sunday night game at that and you guys want to throw him under the bus.If he keeps screwing up than bench him but come on its ONE GAME his first.

one game, and you are ready to throw him into the garbage . awsome. glad the coaches didn't listen to you when they decided to keep Austin and develop him, same for dez. just sit back in your arm chair.....relax

Yea you're gonna wanna got back and see who was declaring Austin to be the better receiver when everyone else here was chanting 'Sam Hurd'. You're also gonna want to see who predicted the oncoming of Dez Bryant's leap into domination mid-season last year- at the exact time it began. (loved both player acquisitions, too, btw)

With that said, I was also one of the bigger proponents for the Roy Williams acquisition and, well, we all know how that fizzled. In that instance, I was incorrect. So you might say I'm a bit of an expert on NOT making that same mistaken talent evaluation twice.

Williams made his bread and butter burning defenders deep in college, now he has to either adjust to Romo's amazing stat-errriffffic dink and dunk offense or be labeled a bust.

He should be so lucky as to get cut or traded to a team with a complete QB like Green Bay for instance, then u would see him on the highlight reels all week and wish we never let him go..

Oh wait that's 3 years from now...

I think he'll be fine here. But I still think Harris makes a better slot WR for now. But if Austin is in the slot, I like Williams more on the outside. I like that he's being moved around out there there. I just don't think his game is suited for the slot.

What is Reid going to say, "no he is scrub we will leave him uncovered all game." TWill has a different skill set than Austin. Austin is more lie RB in the open field, he gets separation by route running and hardwork. He does not have the athletic abilities of a Dez or TWill. I can see TWill becoming more of a Torrey Smith type of receiver with good speed decent hands but not a frontline receiver like Dez and he needs some else to pull pressure off of him.

I think that Reid is not too far off in his insinuation though. I think that Miles Austin could/ should be viewed as a No.1 because that is what the 'Boys have been paying him as. Miles was surely on his way to becoming that moniker until the injuries began to curtail that potential. Granted I am a Commanders fan, but I will say this, I have always been a fan of his since the 'Boys drafted him.

So, the Walrus is not that far off in his statment.

How many times did Dez make a completely knuckle headed plays his first two seasons? He drove Romo nuts. I did not like the pick of Williams simply because I felt we needed a RT much more than a WR, but this kid led all of college football with over 1,800 receiving yds. last year. You can't do that without some skills.
