Just want to say I appreciate you. I enjoy seeing the perspective from a fan of a rival team. And I have always found your posts intelligent and subjective, so I hope some insults from other people doesn't dissuade you from being active here.
Likewise, stay around!

I've waited a bit to chime in on this trade as well as the Gilmore one.
Here's my take, like it or leave it.

This is the F.O. moves we have all been clamoring for for years !
Neither move is costly in terms of draft resources, and contracts. Neither move is the old Cowboys - swing for the fences, and Damm the cost.
No, Neither player are star impact players, they are both older, have been productive, and should be good clubhouse guys who will be motivated to play well and help by example.
I have always wanted free agency to supplement what we will do in the draft, both go hand in hand in roster building. This is just a great use of the resources we have used to fill much needed holes.
Couple that with the zeke move - which must have killed Jerry (but was the correct thing to do) And the restructure of Tyron - also smart use of his last remaining money.
Man, it's a well thought out plan that I'm grateful for so far.
Arguing about the players doesn't interest me at this point, I'm elated the F.O. is being smart about offsetting our roster to compliment what's coming in the draft, at great value.
Well done so far team, well done !

Here is the irony: they fire Kellen Moore because, as fat Mike said "Kellen wants to light the scoreboard up, but I want him to run the damn ball so I can rest my defense."

So what do they do? They go out and add a deep-threat WR to the mix and cut Zeke Elliott.

While I am not questioning the trade for Cooks was a good trade based on compensation, doesn't this go completely against what McCarthy said????
Mike's comments referred to the playcalling. He alluded to the fact Moore wanted to have "the number one offense in the league" and for that reason he got pass happy and unbalanced. The Cowboys needed speed and that's why Cooks is here and Zeke is gone. Cooks' speed will make defenses think twice about crowding the line and will help Dallas run the ball and be more balanced.

Look, the Cowboys likely didn't jump the Eagles with the moves for Gilmore and Cooks, but they moved the needle, and prior to the draft. They are a better team today than they were at the end of last season.
Here is a thought :
We are getting better this off season
Shegals are losing players.
Maybe we at least catch them talent wise?

I am only confirming how predictable this organization has become, and that I knew 100% certainty for weeks now that Cooks would end up here....this is NOT a big splash....more of a maintain the status quo move!!!
They just manipulated Cooks into the lineup and subtracted Noah Brown and kept their premium draft capital. This is exactly what they needed. Their offseason moves have been outstanding and they still have 7 drat picks and can sign more veterans as well.

Agreed!
This is the best off season in years!
Don't know who is calling the shots
But congratulations on a great job so far.
If we carry this over to the draft where we excel, we could make some serious post season noise this year.

I think they are George Constanza'ing it. Everything they used to do was just so bad, it was time to do opposite on every decision. Probably for the best.

Cooks is 5-10 180lbs and Dallas will be his 5th team since 2014. Can't say this is anything special but some here will think this is a good deal. Just another chuck it deep and let your man go get it type player.

The man walks out of bed and gets 1k yards each season. The 3 times he didn't reach 1k yards was his rookie year and the 2 years he was inured.

He adds what dhop doesnt: speed. Making him a better fit.

Cardinals were asking for a 2nd + a player.

You're telling me a cooks, keeping our 2nd, and having the Texans pay him 6mil isn't better?
I never mentioned Hopkins and did not intend to. I probably would not have been for a Hopkins trade at any draft pick compensation due to the contract of the player. I am not sure why you are trying to make this about Hopkins.

I realize this team is probably trying to fill the holes so they can go BPA all the way in the draft (if so, I applaud that idea) but I wasn’t really in favor of Cooks. He gets quite a few yards but he has never been a difference maker (just like Dak). I hope I am wrong, but I don’t know about the fit on this trade.

I bet yall would complain if the eagles got him for the same trade we made

"we CuDda GoT CooKs JeRrY SuX"
Not everyone is complaining. In fact, there are probably more people celebrating the trade than denouncing it, but that's not scientific. Someone make a poll.

I agree. And in my opinion Cooks was acquired because this offense needed speed. Lamb isn't slow but he's not the 4.3 guy Cooks is. Gallup is probably 4.5 on his best day and only goes deep because he knows how to high point the football.

Cooks has the kind of speed that will make corners back off and keep the safeties from cheating up close to the line.

Is Cooks still a 4.3 guy at 29 or was that from earlier in his career?
