MAN....I do NOT remember Dickerson in a Falcon or Packer uni.....hmmmmm
That is because Dickerson barely had any carries with the Falcons. He had only 26 rushing attempts over 4 games before being traded to Green Bay. He failed a physical, so never actually suited up in Packer uniform and retired.

Horrible deal. Cowboys give away a 5th and 6th round picks for a soon to be 30 year old 5'10" WR with tons of wear and tear who previously has been on 4 previous teams, plus take on his salary even if 2/3rds of its overpaid of it? How is this a good deal for the Cowboys?
Now I am completely reassured that it was a good deal.

Mike's comments referred to the playcalling. He alluded to the fact Moore wanted to have "the number one offense in the league" and for that reason he got pass happy and unbalanced. The Cowboys needed speed and that's why Cooks is here and Zeke is gone. Cooks' speed will make defenses think twice about crowding the line and will help Dallas run the ball and be more balanced.
And Cook is here to be the #2/3 WR.
He is to help draw coverages away from Ceedee and Gallup/ TE.

It only helps everyone on the field, and if he starts catching some deep balls, it draws more coverage away for the RBs to have a field day !

I've waited a bit to chime in on this trade as well as the Gilmore one.
Here's my take, like it or leave it.

This is the F.O. moves we have all been clamoring for for years !
Neither move is costly in terms of draft resources, and contracts. Neither move is the old Cowboys - swing for the fences, and Damm the cost.
No, Neither player are star impact players, they are both older, have been productive, and should be good clubhouse guys who will be motivated to play well and help by example.
I have always wanted free agency to supplement what we will do in the draft, both go hand in hand in roster building. This is just a great use of the resources we have used to fill much needed holes.
Couple that with the zeke move - which must have killed Jerry (but was the correct thing to do) And the restructure of Tyron - also smart use of his last remaining money.
Man, it's a well thought out plan that I'm grateful for so far.
Arguing about the players doesn't interest me at this point, I'm elated the F.O. is being smart about offsetting our roster to compliment what's coming in the draft, at great value.
Well done so far team, well done !
:clap:yes . . . well done

Cook is here to be the #2 to take pressure off of CEEDEE. Gallup is expected by the boys to be much better this year. I think Cook might be insurance in case Gallup is no more than we have seen so far.

It's a 1yr rental. Id rather have the draft picks and the option of taking a guy in the first 2 rounds.
Well that's the beauty - we still do, if a top receiver they like falls.
That's why only giving up late round picks makes it so appealing.

Wth are some of you all complaining about? Not to mention we may grab a nice WR in the draft somewhere

The obsession people have with late round picks and not trading them away is hilarious to me.

They seemingly convince themselves that in trading away a late round pick, we are somehow losing a good player but reality is for every 6th rounder we hit on, there are dozens that suck. In my ideal world, I'd use all my first through fourth round picks to draft guys and then see if I can peddle my late round picks for decent vets.

One or more thousand yard seasons for 4 different teams. I wonder how many different QB's that involved.

The picks don't bother me. Getting them to eat a third of his base salary is pretty solid.

All in all, I can live with this move but, in fairness, even a $12 million cap hit is a bit high for Cooks IMO. Wonder if he Cowboys consider any kind of extension here.
