I never mentioned Hopkins and did not intend to. I probably would not have been for a Hopkins trade at any draft pick compensation due to the contract of the player. I am not sure why you are trying to make this about Hopkins.

I realize this team is probably trying to fill the holes so they can go BPA all the way in the draft (if so, I applaud that idea) but I wasn’t really in favor of Cooks. He gets quite a few yards but he has never been a difference maker (just like Dak). I hope I am wrong, but I don’t know about the fit on this trade.
What would your other choice be?
Not sure how you don't see the fit.
What did our team lack? Speed. What does cooks have? Speed.

We have lamb. Cooks will asked to be a number 2.

MAN....I do NOT remember Dickerson in a Falcon or Packer uni.....hmmmmm
It was at THE VERY END of Dickerson's career.
1993: 4 games, 2 starts in Atlanta ___ 26 carries for 91 yds, 6 catches for 58 yds, no TDs
Traded to Geen Bay mid-October that season ----- never played a down.

It's a trash move. Cooks is a jag. If he signed with the eagles or giants I wouldn't care at all.....or got traded i should say. by the way it now cost us more in draft picks and money to replace Cooper and we still haven't touched what he brought to the table.
The only trash move is your never satisfied BS that you've spouted in this thread. I don't want to go any further with you on this. Are you a Cowboys fan?

I thought somewhere I read there is an out after 2023 but didn't know is that a team out or player out
I should look this up to make sure, but I think the deal is that Cooks’ remaining salary with the Cowboys is fully guaranteed this year but none of it is guaranteed next year, so they can walk away at any time after the season. Or, if Gallup struggles and Cooks balls out, they can keep him for another year on a high-end WR2 salary.

It's a 1yr rental. Id rather have the draft picks and the option of taking a guy in the first 2 rounds.
I honestly can see them resign him to a 2-3 Year deal to knock the cap hit down more and keep him in the fold for longer

Walks into the building as the 2nd best receiver in the building. Will be you WR #2 and give you 70 catches and 1K yards allowing Gallup to make your down the field splash plays.

The guy is just a consistently producing #2 receiver.

You get that production cheaply in salary and compensation.

What's not to like.

Jerry and company trying to take the attention away from Dak and his pathetic performance last season.
Or they're trying to improve the team in the most efficient way they can...
But no, it's all about taking attention away from Dak.
That works too. I'm sure they're round-tabling ways to take even more attention off of Dak as we speak.

How much of his 4.3 speed does he still have. It's a dimension outside of the smurf we do not have.

Horrible deal. Cowboys give away a 5th and 6th round picks for a soon to be 30 year old 5'10" WR with tons of wear and tear who previously has been on 4 previous teams, plus take on his salary even if 2/3rds of its overpaid of it? How is this a good deal for the Cowboys?
He's one of the most consistent WRs for separation and getting 1,000 yard seasons. Was on pace last year but sat out 4 games wanting to be traded.

Suppose to be a great locker-room guy as well.

Cooks

Wth are some of you all complaining about? Not to mention we may grab a nice WR in the draft somewhere

Hilton is not of the team anymore, he is a free agent. We could bring him back of course.

I agree with your question though.

The concussions concern me, and that he apparently quit on the Texans, but there's no doubt he's been a productive player. I just hope we don't go back to the pass happy days of Dak stat padding.

I think they are George Constanza'ing it. Everything they used to do was just so bad, it was time to do opposite on every decision. Probably for the best.
I fail to see what's so different about this offseason. They've re-signed their own. They have yet to sign an outside free agent. They made two trades that cost them only late round draft picks.

This isn't some radically different approach.
