The picks don't bother me. Getting them to eat a third of his base salary is pretty solid.

All in all, I can live with this move but, in fairness, even a $12 million cap hit is a bit high for Cooks IMO. Wonder if he Cowboys consider any kind of extension here.
Well you ***** about everything the Cowboys do so this is no surprise. Very predictable.

The concussions concern me, and that he apparently quit on the Texans, but there's no doubt he's been a productive player. I just hope we don't go back to the pass happy days of Dak stat padding.
He’s a perfect fit for MM’s west coast offense he plans on running.

I fail to see what's so different about this offseason. They've re-signed their own. They have yet to sign an outside free agent. They made two trades that cost them only late round draft picks.

This isn't some radically different approach.
Brandin Cooks and Gilmore And it’s not different? This is what constant hating of the FO turns into. You’ve become blinded by your hate.

I never wanted DHop or OBJ for the very same reasons: old age, wear-n-tear and high salaries. Very simple. Don't group me in with the other guys bro.
You usually have some good takes, but this one has me baffled. Cooks is a great signing and is the perfect fit for MM’s new offense. Cooks does nothing but produce.

Bro, its a 5 this year and a 6 next year...................you aint drafting a WR in the 5th or 6th round that is going to break 1000 yds almost every dam year.

We drafted Tolbert in the 3rd last year and the dude never even played.
Well, you could, but you'd have to be lucky. Cooks is a proven commodity. He makes our receiving corps better and the draft compensation wasn't much. Too many fans worry too much about how much a player is making.

Even though I get all over the front office for not making good use of free agency (which they don't), I see no reason to knock these trades. They are making moves to try to improve this team. It might not work out, but at least they are trying. These aren't James Washington- or even Anthony Barr-type moves. These are two players who are still showing they are starter-quality. We have upgraded our talent, and that's all we can ask for.

I don't expect us to make any big moves in FA from here, just fill out the roster. Would love to see us pick up a starting NT (doesn't have to be an expensive move) and a kicker. Any others would be rotational, competition or backups.

This deal is fine, especially because I think they'll take another WR in this draft and ultimately have enough guys to compete for roster spots. I like it especially if T.Y. Hilton also comes back and they draft a guy.

you clearly think the nfl is about wrs.

I still don't like it brother. Here is why...

Cooks is going to be 30 when the 2023 season starts.

don't agree with AC on this but he defended his position.

Thing is: it's the most miserable of drafts to get a premium WR. So I like we got temporary solution.

Trey Palmer is one of the few WR in draft with speed but he's a pure slot player with questionable hands and very limited demonstration of ability with full route tree. Lacks strength. He's really kind of a project player. Raw. High bust risk.

Love the Cooks trade. Can't believe didn't cost more.

Why do you care? Is it your $$?

Exactly which player of value will Dallas lose because of Brandin Cooks $12M cap Hit?

Cap Hell is a Myth

Tell that to the Saints, Bucs and esp. the Rams. They are in football hell because the cap bends and bends...and then suddenly has razor teeth.
Cap is a self imposed restriction by owners to "Curb" cost.

The Cap goes up every year so those Teeth are blunt and clean.

$110B for 11 years Amazon Deal.

That is $11B a season.

Approx $250M per Team.....The Saints, Bucs and Rams have been to the SuperBowl in last 13 years.

Question.

Would give 2-3 years of "Cap Hell" to attain a Superbowl Berth?

I would not want a Super Bowl game in exchange for 3 years of zero-watchable football, no.

But notice how you moved the goal posts? First you say there is not cap hell, then you say it's worthwhile if it gets you to the Dance.

Another team bit in the butt because of indulgent spending? My Chargers went all in last year, and are now helpless to give Ekeler a modest extension bump, and they couldn't even afford to make their best linebacker an offer. Next year Khalil Mack or Bosa will be forced out.

Getting Gilmore and Cooks for our comp 5ths, signing Wilson, LVE, I think is very good off-season. CBS sports gave us a A- for the off season. Now if we could sign a NT ( Hankins) that will top it off. But they have to put this off-season to good use and perform on the field which I think they will.

Cooks is going to be 30 when the 2023 season starts. The Cowboys just took up his new 2 year contract extension he received last year with the Texans. Cowboys will pay Cooks $12.5 mil this season and owe him $16.5 mil for 2024. That's a lot for a 31 year old WR with a lot of wear-n-tear for 2024, which makes me believe Jerry and Stephen will once again extend the contract a few more years down the road to create cap space whether Brandin Cooks remains with the team after 2024 or not. It's the same old crap once again of not being able to draft good young receivers or build and have them execute well for cheap. Plus, Cooks is short (5'10"). At his age and with his wear and tear, I doubt he has that 4.33 speed anymore. How is that going to help this Offense or fare well for Dak?

I realize it's too late to complain. Cooks is here at the cost that he is whether anyone likes it or not, but I believe the Cowboys would be smart to address a fast WR in the draft, preferably someone like the fastest WR at this year's Combine (4.33 speed) in the 2nd or 3rd round like Trey Palmer (6'0", 192 lbs)...

A legit 4.33 speedster who is young, has quick acceleration, strong hands, goes up high for high balls, has good moves with the ball while in traffic and can make plays short, mid or deep. Plus, would be cheap for 4 years.

But this move does not prevent you from drafting a WR, we can still do that. And if we happen to get a really good young WR from the draft we can always release Cooks next season and there will be zero dead money.

Flipping 5th and 6th round picks for proven vets on basically one-year rental deals is a smart strategy.

I respect your opinion my brother, but this is a good deal for the Cowboys.

Nope...Naw..... I didn't move the Goalpost. Do you See the Quotation marks "Cap Hell".

Do I need to explain what that means?

Tell that to Charger Fans whom haven't sniffed a Superbowl Berth since 95....
They went all in because they had so much success doing it "your" way?

You are a Chargers Fan?

How do you feel about Kellen Moore?

Eckler saw the play book and pulled a Zeke !!

To totally different players, with different skill levels, and there's no difference? Cooks is too old, I want OBJ! OBJ is older, uh... well... uh... DAK LOVER!!!! Fanbase in a nutshell.

Cowboys are my NFC team, Chargers my AFC team. Diversified portfolio. Football wife, football mistress...however you want to say it.

Last year LAC splurged all over. Signed the guy everyone viewed as best free agent corner, JC Jackson for 5-year, 82 mil. He didn't play even one good game for the team and now faces possible career-ending injury. That's ****ed up! Loading up for special massive signing players can destroy your team so fast.

As for Kellen Moore. I'm stoked, as is most everyone there. So glad he's in L.A. Ekeler is looking for more money. That's it. That's all. Sorry to crush your narrative. Ekeler's trade demands had nothing to do with KM's playbook. That does give me a good laugh, so grateful.

I'll look for more of your posts.
