Not sure what part of I am not a teasip you don't understand, but the UT brand isn't mine.
I was accepted into their school of engineering but did not go.
I went to Tech and played football there.
I think the teasips are a bunch of fairies.

But NO the Baylor brand isn't better than the UT brand.
UT had the Pac 75, Big 10, ACC all chasing it just 18 months ago.
The brand isn't near degraded though the coach has become a laughing stock.

Briles has more sway than Mack right now with recruits because he has an exciting and winning offense.
But that brand is no more than the coach himself.
Baylor is still a small overly conservative church school in crazy Waco.
And that is just simply the way it is.

The teasips will can(reassign) Brown as I have suggested since about week 1; and they'll hire a big time coach who can recruit.
The new coach will end up with a great situation because he'll have a lot of under-performing talent on campus he can get rid of and lots of scholarships he can throw at 4 and 5 star recruits who can walk in and play.

Baylor has had 1 recruiting class this decade ranked higher than UT. That's it. And that will end after this class. Because whatever coach they hire will bring in a top 10 if not top 5 class next(2015) year.

Perhaps Mack will be their new AD.

Oh yeah, you're still arrogant to think anyone will leave a great situation just because you once had a great brand that you think wil be a siren call to any successful coach of your choosing.

This isn't 2005, or even 2009. It's 2013 and Baylor is better place to be than UT, let that sink in.

The Baylor brand to a recruit is presently greater worth than UT, and that's just the truth.

A new stadium, a great coaching staff, blingy new uniforms, and an offense everyone wants to play in...and none of it is in Austin.

One could hardly begrudge you your pride in what Baylor's done and doing these past few years, and I sincerely congratulate them for it. They've undeniably been fun to watch.

But you're seriously delusional in thinking, if/when the delegation from Texas shows up @ Briles' door, w/ a briefcase full of $$$ and a couple of greater Austin realtor brochures for Mrs. Briles. "Blingy new uniforms" and a new stadium...that inexplicably, is going to OPEN, w/ a seating capacity FIVE THOUSAND SEATS LESS than the one their moving from...is going to somehow make him go, "Welp, geee fellers. I'm pretty happy where I am. Thanks anyway."

And no matter how badly you might wanna deny it, I'm pretty sure you're savvy enough guy to know "that's just the truth".

Oh, and just an FYI. Mack Brown left an 11-1, 7th ranked Tar Heels team, to come to a 4-7 UT program. So you just go right on believing in that magical pull of Waco.

The delusion is in those that refuse to listen. He's explicitly said to the media now he is a Baylor Bear for life.

I'm not saying he's UT bound, but if you really believe that Briles would stay at Baylor if some of the other top schools in the country came calling, well, I have a bridge to sell you. Every coach is ".... for life" while they're being paid by said school/program.

This cynicism you lot show that the best may be denied you is a product of the very arrogance that is leaving you clamoring for answers.

Coveting and myopically thinking a
diminished brand can trump all other intangibles and programs won't make it so.

If the UT brand were as attractive and irresistible as you claim they wouldn't be losing games, recruits, and seeking to buyout other people's coaches.

It is time to realize that a transition is in effect, UT has to actively hit the trail and prove UT's brand has value,
because the time is fast approaching
where every potential recruit that may remember UT as a contender was in grade school or diapers.

UT didn't win a single national title between 1970 and 2005, do not act like dry spells and losing stretches are beyond Austin.

Between royal and brown the UT had a string of forgettable coaches and mostly forgettable seasons, relapsing into that state isn't out of the question

PS this wouldn't be the first time USC went after Baylor's coach, they tried to snatch Grant Teaff away in 1986 after this happened in 1985, Teaff turned them down flat and retired from Baylor in 1992.

Keep the name Oliver Luck in your mind.

He is the current WVU AD.

Although he went to WVU and played QB there, he also got his law degree later at Texas. He has ties in that area as well.

I would hate to lose him as he has been a great guy for WVU and I think if they do hire him they are getting a very good guy and AD for the job.

ROFL the continued talk of arrogance is a sure sign of lack of confidence in the argument.

Lie to yourself all you want, but lying to the forum isn't going to work.

Briles went from Stephenville to asst at Texas Tech, to HC at Houston to HC at Baylor. He is climbing the ladder.
He's built Baylor into a winner but did the same at Houston before leaving.

Might wanna read his autobiography where he talks about how he'd have been the Tech head coach if not for RG3.
He'd have left Baylor for Tech and seriously considered it but knew he had a Heisman candidate that had followed him from Houston.
He and his wife are from west Texas and graduated from Tech.
It was VERY difficult for him to not leave Baylor.

When his kid was a top 100 prospect where did he go to school? UT Austin.
Kendal will now make Baylor a fine head coach if Art Briles leaves.

As to Briles saying he's not going anywhere... what do you expect him to say?
What coach has said any different?
Rumors are out or the questions wouldn't even be asked.
Once they are asked the answer is always the same but also means the offers are out there and they only end one way eventually.

No bra, it's a reality check, once more countered by your conjecture as if that is matter of fact.

The "lie" as it were, is your unwillingness to empirically READ and LISTEN, instead you simply spout smarmy opinion long since proven fallible and get pissy when it is found wanting.

The gist of your argument is nobody says no to Texas, and that just ain't so. People have been telling Texas no for 4 years and that's why they're in their condition.

The other unfounded part of your argument is that no good coach turns downs offers to leave Baylor, also historically untrue.

Nice youtube of the old Grant Teaff show... LOL Sean Salisbury at QB for USC. How did he get by before camera phones.

I went to Baylor for a while too but there's no way Baylor can compete with UT. Said it before, but Galloway knows Briles pretty well and said he heard that the only two jobs Briles would leave for are Tech and UT. Tech looks set for a few years, but UT is about to be open. Only question is whether UT would want him. Personally, I think they'd be crazy not to, because he's perfect: Good Texas recruiter and phenomenal offensive coach. He might be as celebrated as a Chip Kelly if he went to a place like UT where he could really recruit with the best. IMO they'd quickly take over this conference especially because to me Stoops is nothing special.

But I guess UT is kind of a goofy place as far as who they want at coach. I'd never have believed Mack would survive this year, but for some reason some people love him.

BTW, I'd bet Shaw is still a solid bet with the rumors of Bowlsby taking over for Dodds.

I don't have a dog in this fight one way or the other really. In a way I actually hope he stays at Baylor and they dominate UT for years to come. But I don't see in that article where he explicitly says anything of the sort.

The only thing close is: "I can't see myself anywhere else" - to me that only means he'll stay at Baylor unless/until something comes along to change his mind. That's not saying he will be at Baylor for life.
