Source:Cliff Lee is in play in trade talks today. Rangers obviously the most logical landing spot, with 3B Mike Olt as possible centerpiece.

I don't see why we would give up top prospects for this guy AGAIN when he didn't want to be here the first time, oh and he hasn't been all that great this year either.

So when it's all said and done we will have given up Smoak, Olt, Profar, etc for Lee? A guy who can't even pitch on short rest in the postseason?

No way Profar would be in that trade. Olt might be due to the fact that Lee has several years left on his contract.

Lee contract details:
12/14/10: Signed a five-year, $120 million contract with a club option for 2016.
  • [strike]2011: $11 million[/strike]
  • [strike]2012: $21.5 million[/strike] 2012: $10Mish for the remainder of the season?
  • 2013: $25 million
  • 2014: $25 million
  • 2015: $25 million
  • 2016: $27.5 million club option ($12.5 million buyout)

So, if we cut ties with Lee after 2015. We will get 3 1/2 season and 4 post seasons with a clear cut Ace for about $92.5 million.

Keep in mind that we originally offered Lee 6 years $138M. We missed 1 1/2 years, but we also get a $46M discount over the entire value of what that contract would have been. Plus, we still made it to the World Series without Lee.

Let me say this too. Lee brought a calming presents to the Rangers when he was traded here. We had a similar presents (though probably not as good as Lee) in Colby Lewis. Now, we don't have him either. Our rotation is VERY young with the most experienced veteran starter being Scott Feldman. (besides Oswalt, but he just doesn't come off as the leader type) There is a big value in having someone like Cliff on the staff. A leader for the younger guys to lean on and talk too. He provided that in 2010. I have no issue with him providing it again for the next four post seasons.

If Texas wants to get back to the World Series, it will probably take someone like Cliff to help get the pitching staff there. Especially with Colby Lewis gone now.

With Hambone hitting below his IQ this team isnt making it back to the WS .. no way ... no how.

The Angels are not hot, that is a myth. The A's however, are hot right now.

Last 10 games.

Rangers 4-6
Athletics 8-2
Angels 5-5

They are only one game better than us, and they are now 3rd place in the division.

At one time the Angels were 9-1 in their last time games. They have cooled off and the As have heated up.

The best thing about it is that everytime the Angels get hot, so do we and they can never make up much ground. Now, the As have been on fire and are back in the race. They are ahead of the Angels by 1/2 game. That should speak volumes since they were back with the Mariners about 9-10 games back not long ago.

I expect Josh to pick it up here soon.

I don't know what's up with Hambone, but the fact that he took two walks last night was a very good sign. There is no way he continues the rest of the season in this funk. He will be back. The guy is a great hitter. The only real weakness in his hitting are breaking balls down and in. He has a nasty time dealing with those. All the other troubles he has are him and his mental state at the plate. As long as he isn't using, he will turn that around.

So what would be our rotation? Lee-Oswalt-Harrison-Darvish?

Darvish is inconsistent, Oswalt has health issues, and i really don't trust Matt Harrison all that much.

Lee isn't the type of workhorse guy that can carry a rotation in the postseason, but it seems like it might be going down, so whatever.

SO lets see

Cleveland->Philly->Seattle->Texas->Philly->Texas

So Lee will have been traded by the Phillies twice, crazy. It's funny too because that's obviously where he wants to be.

Why anyone would want to be in Philly is a complete mystery. Place is the pits. Actually its the armpit of the East.

Well, we lose.

Morales with two homers and 6 RBI's in the 6th inning. Wow.

Angels get 9 runs in the 6th. This os depressing. Its like watching the Cowboys play.

Wash better get this ship fixed.

Oswalt is awful. AWFUL. We are in trouble. Feldman is a blowout waiting to happen too. Feliz might be on the shelf. Gotta get a starter in the next day of some quality or a Reliever and put Ogando back in rotation.

Didn't watch the game tonight but from the box at least Josh had a good game. So what is that, a half win?

I don't see any point in trading for Lee or anyone else, it won't be enough to get this team right. Would be better in the long run to hold on to their minor leaguers. They're toast plain and simple, this year. I guess that choke job of a world series last year did them in mentally. All there is to look forward to is another 8-8 Cowboys season. That's my encouraging thought for the day!

Oh please, we are still in first place.

It would be nice if they are by the end of the week. That would be a moral victory!

Not panicking is nice but you still have to accept what's really going on with this team, looks like another choke job IMO. I would love, LOVE to be wrong.

We're in a funk, it happens to everybody including the Angels. We just hit ours a little later. I have no reason not to trust this team to grind out their struggles. Pujols was worse than Josh early on in the year.
