Texas Rangers 2012 Thread

I'm liking this Mike Olt guy, he looks poised at the plate.
He hits the ball hard.

Kinsler is having one hell of a couple games right now to.

Thank goodness the bats have woken up...hopefully they stay like that. Our pitching is in absolute shambles. Scott Feldman is our best SP right now to put things into perspective.

Hopefully we don't cut Oswalt. I haven't watched all of his starts as a ranger, but the 2 games(vs Oakland and Colorado i think) i did see were all shutdown outings. Of course there have been completely terrible games as well, but ultimately if anyone has to go to the pen, why not Holland?

We can't afford to be dicking around with the rotation and cut a guy like Oswalt just to send a message, he can be the difference maker if he rounds into form.

They won't cut him unless he refuses to stay in the pen. With his two appearances out of the pen he may be more valuable coming out of it. He was great in the two appearances. So I hope he puts his pride aside.

But as far as a starter he would have to be more consistent. He has flashes of his former self but it's still lacking.

The entire rotation really needs to step up, they have all been a little lacking lately except for surprisingly Feldman. Holland keeps getting the starts because of last year, he definitely needs to step up, if he doesn't I could see Oswalt getting another chance.

As for today's game it was just Elvis running through a stop sign and also not getting a suicide bunt down. Then in the 10th Gonzalez and Olt with game costing errors.

A's and Angels start a series with each other tomorrow so it's a good chance to gain some games on them when we face the struggling Red Sox.

If he's not happy then what can you do about it? If he doesn't want to go to the bullpen then he's got no role on this team. Better to get rid of him than have a discontent player

With our luck he may need to fill in at starter soon.

19 games over .500. Wonder how much better we'd be if Lewis and Feliz and Lowe weren't out.

I think we are going to miss Colby for the playoffs. I barely remember what Feliz looked like as a starter.

Yu is frustrating tonight. He hasn't had a good game in a while.

Yu has peaked this year. It was expected to happen once MLB teams became used to his pitching. Just part of his development, now we just have to hope he improves this offseason/spring for next year. That's why he was supposed to be only a #4 starter this year.2014 is when he should reach his full potential if everything goes right.

Very true. My first impression last night was to think "what a flop signing Yu has been", but his troubles are to be expected. There's a lot of little things flr him to adjust to, both in the game and culturally, that it was bound to take it's toll on him this season. We know he has really, really good stuff because we saw it for 3-4 games this season. He just needs a good offseason or 2 to get to where everyone expects him to be.

Edit: right now he just looks tired out there...I'm sure the Texas heat is nothing he's used to.

I don't think that, because even when he struggles you can see his potential.

I'm really sick of Kinsler. How long do we have him signed for?

BTW...I'm glad Ian Kinsler read this thread...I see the reverse psychology has worked :)

...and just as I say that, Kinsler muffs a ball that would've ended the inning and the next batter turns that mistake into a 3-run HR...

Don't fear. Joe Nathan is coming up! Hahahahaha. Hopefully this three run lead sticks. I am nervous though.
